So many ignorant comments. Comparing these to anything from Japan completely misses the point of owning a Ducati. I've owned and enjoyed both. Japan builds competent bikes. Italy builds machines to stir the soul, and that is entirely lost on some people. I pity them.

Guys who say Ducatis Twin sounds like crap tractors lawnmowers and shit really got no idea about bikes do ya? Jesus Christ.....it might sound a little bad in the video or something...but this 17000 lawnmower can do things a lambo cannot do....and Im comparing it to the Lambo firstly cause it cost 100000+ and secondly cause it is also an Italian classy beast...

i agree - every time i find a bike that i need a solid opinion of, i turn to these guys. they're by far the best & most fair reviewers of motorcycles i have found; i trust their videos more than any other[s].

Its a lovely bike, I own one, pillions hate it though whilst they love every minute of it but it's best on your own. The engine is lovely and don't need silly revs to make good power, effortless drive in any gear. although from 6000 rpm onwards the engine does come alive. You get used to the position after a while and learn to ride it out of town as much as you can. fuel is good as i've got about 50 mpg down the motorway with gentle throttle, if you give it welly your be down in the 20 mpg

@DSNCB919 I tried the Bmw s1000rr before I got my 1198 and the bmw is gutless unless your reving it to death, On the road the 1198 is easier to ride and more fun than the bmw. The Bmw isn't the best riding bike but give it a long straight and it makes more outright power but rev for rev its left for dead.

@haudiwaudi Nah, there is one weld on the bottom of the cross-tube and another weld on the top. It's probably just a shadow + shady side of the bike + lumpy end of weld. My 1098 is similar, but you don't see those shadows because the gloss red paint blends everything in.

@hoffalive1098 I got an 1198s, have you got traction control turned on, Maybe its interfering a bit. Mine does on l8 if i try and get my knee down it really dont like it. I dont know if power commander will help but i've heard others talk of them makeing the power smoother. I think its dam smooth for a vtwin. Actually which exhauts have you got. I have heard of people changing them without re maped ecu.

I love this bike. This is my third Ducati and probably my last. Currently, own an RC51 blueprinted by me, and does feel a little better on my knees. The only problem I find with this bike is that I am getting too old to take it around the track. Mine has many mods but the best part I think is the dry clutch and the arrow pipes. Ducati in my view is getting a little weird? Or perhaps I am an old fart and no longer attracted by innovations?

@crazypersonlol34 "is the fun really worth your life" Yes, yes it is. I've been in about 5 accidents and only 2 resulted in broken bones and only one was serious at all. I got right back on and kept going, even the pros go down from time to time. As it happens most fatal motorcycle accidents involve CARS.

I have a Ducati 1198S and MV Agusta F4 750 (aka as best sounding inline 4). In short, Duc sounds much mch better and thats not only my opinion. You guys have to hear it in person. On videos a 1198 sounds like a tractor....

@1000Jordan0001 I thought it was 170 hp for the 1198, I own one, the 1098 was 160. Hey buggetti veyron lovers can only but dream but Bikers can get exotic machines like this and have experiences you just can't get in a car. I'm not rich but I happily own an 1198s. From my trackday experience on mine, it really is a wonderful machine. Its good at everything, from low revs the power is still quite a bit but when you let her rip from 6000 rpm onwards, it becomes a guided missile.

On the other hand, a 4-seat car with a/c, heat, stereo, comfort, airbags, all weather use, and reliability for well over 100,000 miles can be had for the cost of the bike.

1:12, can't take a pillion? I see pillion pegs, Or maybe the highest and furthest set reatsets i've seen, with thought control for the gear shift and brake? i'm guessing the cover removes to present a pillion pad, basic sure and certainly not geared for passenger comfort but this isn't the sort of bike you buy for passenger carrying.

@1kperday DOT compliance.. Be careful about putting your girls "oven" near those hot pipes...she'll start growing bread in there. Just not a pilion friendly bike, it is pure race. Beauty but not a do-it-all everyday all rounder...but we all know this right?

I'd rather die doing what I love than die from sth boring. I ride bikes and skydive and BASE jump. Life is made for enjoyment not just living life on earth boring......

dude your all crazey. When riding a motorcycle compared to riding in a car, you have a 16 times better chance of having a fatal accident and 24 times chance of sustaining an injury. They should call sport bikes death rockets. is the fun realy worth your life, or serious injury? You better pray before you ride. That goes for everyone.
