I'm a 55yr old Aussie that bought a brand new Ducati without even a test ride. I've often wondered if it was the right choice, but every time I hear that same induction growl and termi exhaust sound, plus the mechanical desmo whirring noises, I feel happy and smile. 7yrs and 11,000 km later, still smiling. Hope you enjoy yours the same !!

I used this vid to comfort me while my 899 was being built. I still have it and the video still comforts me while I’m away from the bike. I do miss the Baron’s original Vlog style although the show must go one.

It’s funny watching this vid 6 years on. I ordered mine and then had to go to Bahrain for what felt like the longest week of my life....so watched this vid every chance I had. I still have the bike and MOTd it on the weekend. Love it!

I just bought a 9 year old 899 ... it looks and feels like a new bike .. only 17k km on it . I once owned a new 999s .. this has more power and is so much lighter....also surprised how loud the standard exhaust is. Love this channel and 44 teeth

After turning in my 1199s for an 899, I thought I made a bad decision, but boy was i wrong. I have never enjoyed rides like I do with this bike. I can open it her up, take the corners, and not feel like the bike is leaving my hands like I did on the 1199. This bike has more than enough power to enjoy out in the road. You will get an enjoyment on the road you will never get on an 1199. So if youre debating between the 1199 & 899. I strongly suggest 899. Excellent video Baron keep them coming.

The SOUND of that SEXY Exhaust! Your Fly-by's sounded EPIC! By the way... THANK YOU for your Camera and Microphone setup video! I setup my Drift Ghost S's Microphone behind my Cheek Pad Foam and I got impressive Audio right on the first go! Double thanks for also mentioning to reduce the microphone level in the settings to just one bar, as it was spot on!

I have an Ion Air Pro two. I recently improved my sound with a mic from Maplins QY62s , £4.previously i had used a mic designed for a pc, which meant all the sound was very low.Next i want to work out how when im talking to someone i can include their voice in the recording,as my mic is stuffed in the cheak pad. im thinking an exterior switchable mic ?.
@LordTimelord10 жыл бұрын
I know that Accidental Broadcast uses an external microphone device mounted onto the back of his helmet that is is powered by batteries and boosts the audio signal from the microphone. He has a video about his setup if you want to check it out. However I'm not sure if that device would be useful or not. I'm thinking not because it is large in size, even though it does give his vlogs excellent audio. It's about the size of a cellphone, so not very practical for a Motovlogger. In the end a battery boosted microphone is going to most likely perform better than a non-powered counterpart, but you need to remember to have spare batteries on hand. The stock Drift microphone seems to work good for me at the moment. My first four-part vlog of the season was just posted on my channel, and you can clearly hear me all the way up to 70mph with no issues.
@moaningminnie945210 жыл бұрын
I will look at his setup, but from what youve wrote, your probably right. I was thinking something a bit more basic lol, another mic and a switch lol. But then maybe that wouldnt work either, two mic's running in parallel, would probably need a boost .
@LordTimelord10 жыл бұрын
I found the link to Accidental Broadcast's "7 Things Every Motovlogger Needs" page. Scroll down and you'll see the audio information. www.accidentalbroadcast.com/abs-tutorials-setups-stuffs/7-things-every-motovlogger-needs/

LordTimelord Nice one:).The Samsung SD cards, ill look out for as cheapo's off Ebay dont last 48hours and Sainsbury's budget ones become faulty so that the Ion dont like to put a full session on, and instead breaks the video up into two parts.Or more annoyingly only records for upto 12mins then shuts down.

What a funny coincidence Baron, I also purchased the Sidi Vortices, I got the red and white at half price clearance sale at Lancaster honda for £165. :] I almost even bought the same gloves but opted for the RST TracTech Evo, Identical design, kangaroo leather, minus those plastic palm bits and with inter-locked pinky and third finger. Both boots and gloves alike have dramatically improved my riding though, never realised how much clunky winter/all weather gear dulls the senses!

Was at my local dealer on Saturday, for Ducati demo day. They said that one guy had bought the 899 because of your review. You should be on commission. PS - The new Monster 1200s is pretty fun. Spec says it's a detuned Diavel engine, which is exactly what it feels like. Good handling, comfy ride and the brakes from the 1199.
@123rixxy10 жыл бұрын
I tested one, great bike but a bit low, terrible foot position for the rider, i would pull my toes up and my heels catch the rear pillion pegs, so i imagine with a pillion there feet will be hitting yours…….. annoying.
@TychoCelchu10 жыл бұрын
123rixxy I had no problem with the foot position, as I keep the peg in the arch of my foot, where it's supposed to be. As an around town bike, I found it to be excellent. Don't think any Ducati is really designed for a pillion. The pillion seat on my 1199 is a joke, which is why it was replaced with a cowl and pillion pegs removed.

M13, don't you need to keep variating the revs you run in. Never stay at the same rpm to long?
@DCUK610 жыл бұрын
Yes, don't keep at the same rev. Find a nice quiet road and go through the gears. Then reduce speed by heavy downshifting. This is supposed to create a vacuum and suck the crap out of the engine. Then do it again and again and then a few more times. Then get a service.
@TheGardenSnake10 жыл бұрын
The certified motorcycle mechanic (myself) agrees with M13. "She's all run in and free to use all the revs" You should of been running her hard from mile 1. It sounds amazing tho. Love that ducati sound.

Getting the suspension sorted (correct sag, compression, damping) was the BEST thing I have done to my 899. Also, getting rid of the lean fuel map that comes as standard and upgrading to the Termi map has transformed the mid-range. Between those 2 things, its a completely different bike.

You have changed the seat, mentioned that the brakes aren't great, mentioned that for some reason you keep missing gears and mentioned that the fuel stops are.... Frequent! You only ever creamed the gsxr up. Have you still got it? I don't think you're going to have this Duc for long. Seems that the sound is the best part.
