Respect , that's some trip ! Really idiotic law not allowing motorcycles to filter, adding to queues and being at risk of being hit from behind - not good if you're on a bike 🤨

I really love your video! No wheelies, keep things legal on the street. So much knowledge as well. I was asking you about the pros and cons of getting an F3, thanks for the reply! I ended up getting a 2014 non-ABS F3 800. It is an awesome bike, I just need many adjustments since I rode 400cc before getting the F3. Got the silver engine on it, and the exhaust valve failed but other than that it is smooth as silk. Thanks for your awesome videos of F3, it gives a lot of insights into having an Mv Agusta.

Kudos to you for taking on that journey. I had a friend in college that used to ride his CBR 600 from his home in Wyoming all the way to Rhode Island. Being in college he would make the trip on a budget and would pitch a tent in camp areas along the way. I thought he was nuts but at the same time brave.
@amv_moto

Wow. That sounds a little crazy but also kind of fun - pitching a tent next to your bike as you make your way cross country. Too bad I love a soft bed so much or else I might try it.

That's awesome. I had 2 friends ride their bikes one was gsxr600 and the other had a vtx1300 across country starting in Rhode island going to Washington state then down to San fran and then back to RI. They switched bikes every 500-700 miles. The 2 different riding positions helped with their fatigue tremendously

I currently ride a 2018 ZX-10R and a few months back did a trip from Tulsa to Arkansas, rode the next day for over 6 hours in the twisties and took a lot of ibuprofen that night. I don't remember if I commented on this before, but kevlar lined pants do wonders for me on my V4S, and sometimes in addition, I wear a flexible material knee brace on my left leg, just a little lower of the left knee to help where the kevlar stops, for me, the left side gets warmer. I do live in South Fl. so it does get hot in stop and go traffic, the Lined pants make it a non-issue for me. Always a good thing to wear for protection, anyway. Sorry to see how badly you scorched you skin. Crazy Crazy!

Good advice. I’ve since added the heat shield and that’s made a noticeable difference to how much heat you feel from the bike. Another V4 viewer said he also wears an Underarmour cool layer under his pants. Gotta say that + the heat shielding has been the 1-2 punch for dealing with the V4’s insane heat on hot days. Sooo much more comfortable to ride now.😎

I've driven from LA to Vancouver BC on a sport bike. I averaged about 650 miles daily and at about the end of the second day, my butt was sore. Nothing like waking up on the third day and looking at that seat. I always took Hwy 1 along the coast to get there, but the return trip is through the Dakotas. It's not too bad if you have time to stop and see the sights, but when you are on a timetable, it's tough. And it's always funny to be driving through Idaho or Montana and come across a group of about 10 Goldwings cruising along. Big bags, trailers, helmet intercoms, etc. Next time ensure you bring your heated vest with you. It makes all the difference.

I was going to tell you what bike you should have used for that trip (BMW R1200RT) but I decided against that. Mad respect for powering through. That's an awesome bike and I hope you get to put many many miles on her. Stay safe

Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah I only take about one road-trip a year so it’s not really worth it to get a touring bike that just sits unused the rest of the year. So I’ll take the challenge of doing it on a sportbike! 🤣 It’s not too bad since I normally ride one 5 days/week so I’m used to it. Currently editing a V4 road-trip to Canada video so stay tuned. 😎

Definitely not a fan of the wings. Picked the bike up Saturday afternoon. Woke up Sunday morning and took them off. Ha!

I haul ass when I travel- I have swapped out the 525 chain to a 520, and went from a 43 to a 41 rear sprocket, the weight savings on the smaller link chain is a big deal! I cruise about 130mph- The problem with anything above that is the wind noise is absolutely fatiguing!! Doesn't matter ear plugs or not... I wear an carbon fiber agv pista now and what a pleasure it is- my x14 kills my neck after 3hrs, the pista I dont have any issues with my neck cramping. The wind buffeting with other helmets distorts the visor and blurs vision when needed the most. I wear a scarf which really helps with the wind noise, I am adding a set of winglets with hopes of streaming the low speed airflow away from the back of my helmet before it gets turbulent meeting the high speed flow. I am going to experiment with some porting to the visor like the zx10-

So true about the buffeting and wind noise >100mph! I just bought myself a AGV K5 for Christmas because it's supposed to be nice and quiet. Looking forward to testing it out soon.

Seen a video of a guy that did a lap of Australia on an R1, that's minimum 9200miles, he did an extra lil bit and detours so at least 10,000miles, I cannot imagine how, guy must be made of steel.

Panigale ignite? Funny you mention that. You might want to watch the return trip video. 14 hrs straight with a 100mph average? I like the way you think. I'd definitely pay to watch that video.

The furthest i have done is Baytown, TX to Bertram, TX on my Ducati 848. The great thing about the sport bikes they throw a ;ot of engine heat on your legs in cold weather. In the houston area its unbearable sitting in traffic on the 848 during a summer day. I went to the race too but I took my car and little niece. Planning a Baytown to New Orleans on my 20 Ducati Cafe Racer next week for The Smile concert

Sounds like a cool trip to New Orleans. Yes, my next trip will probably be up north and I think the heat from the V4 will be nice to have then. But riding that bike in 100F Texas heat!? Well, I talk about that in the next video…

Very informative video. Thanks a lot for it. 2 questions to you 1. What kind of mobile navigation do you use? It looks sometimes like real view pictures. Maybe I’m wrong. Just interested it. 2. How do you choose your rest stops and what are your favorite places to take the night? Have you booked them before or is there no problem to find something ? I’m not from Europe and plan some trips through the USA with the car. That’s the reason I’m asking.
@amv_moto
@amv_moto 4 ай бұрын
Glad you enjoyed the video. I use Waze for my navigation - which is popular in the US. It easily plots out gas stops on the way. I usually choose my stops based on how far the V4 will go on a tank of gas. Going 90-100 mph, I’ll be able to go about 120 miles before refueling. As far as hotels, I use the hotels dot com app. I’ll usually book a room right before I get there. I’ll have a goal for the day and as I near my destination, I’ll book the hotel with my phone. But if I think I’ll fall short of my goal I’ll choose a closer hotel. There are usually plenty of choices of hotels around. That way I don’t have to worry about cancelling reservations. That app also lets you check out reviews of how nice the hotels are. Hopefully that helps. Enjoy your upcoming road-trip! 😎
