Any shop that sent you out with a chain flinging grease like that should be named and shamed.

I called the shop today and he said all new Ducatis come like that. I've never had a new one but I find that hard to believe.

@@DasGoodMoto no he is right my v4r had all that crap on it did the same thing flinging it everywhere. they cleaned it all off at the first service. comes that way to prevent any sort of rust build up while they sit on shelves

@@wasabipierson8229 Thank you for confirming. I'm surprised I haven't heard about this before. Seems like it would get lots of complaints.

@@DasGoodMoto all chains from good manufacturers such as DID come from the factory with a very thick load of grease to prevent corrosion. But this is only for storage and transport to preserve the chain, before riding/installation it is degreased and lightly lubricated with chain oil or low-viscosity chain grease. Unfortunately, your shop is extremely lazy lol

Clean the chain and add your own Cain wax. That dealership should do it for you. Ridiculous

Agreed, hoping this video will help others get ahead of this.

Just go to a jewelry shop let them gold plate the chain 24k, after it worn out throw it away.

Pretty sure our bikes depreciate at a rate similar to what you are proposing!

this is just a load of garbage, chain instalment is not hard, voicing what chain you specifically you want is not hard, inspecting the chain, identifying and then cleaning excess chain lube is not hard. lol, what more besides ones unintuitive approach to wrenching on their own bike is this? click bait, oh yeah ahaha
