Typically Friday is kinda of a looser structure as it is mostly arrival day for the participants that come from other towns and cities. There is a large contingent that comes in from California (ie David Freiburger, Lucky Costa etc. TV show personalities and such. There is a schedule on line that might not have been there when you bought tickets. You will notice Saturday racing starts much earlier. Appreciate the inside look, hoping to make it next year.

I was there on Saturday (today) and they started racing around 9 am or so. Friday is usually just evening cause that's the day a lot of people show up, especially if coming from out of state. It was a fun day on Sat, even though it was hot. Those temps are waaaay above normal. Great video, I enjoyed it.

Always be ready to camp for a few days. I'll never understand why they do these things when it's gonna be 100+ degrees. A month from now it'll be much more pleasant.

Hey Mike 😀 that drag event in Tucson looked like a fun time! Your van looked cool there amongst all the other cars, trucks. Loved that car that was blue with the black hood...think it was a Challenger? 🤔 Not sure??? It sure was a nice looking car! Loved you in your hat 🤠 you looked cute. Sorry you got up so early for that event...when clearly you didn't have to. 🥴 But now you know for next time, right? Glad you have a good time there, here's to next time!! 👍🚐 Take care 😊✌️

That blue car with the black hood was a 1969 Dodge Charger. He may have raced a Challenger that's why the announcer mentioned a Challenger during his race. Either that or the announcer messed up. There was a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner there too. Both made by the Chrysler Corp. That's why the bodies are similar.

Roof deck is awesome. Im an Astro dude too. Have an 86 cargo we are going to AWD with 98 parts and jam an LT1 in it. That's my 69 van in the background of the blue Charger @11:59 and in a few shots. Good feedback on the event. Seggregting the traffic and having a roamer with the wrist bands and a sign in sheet for those who preregistered, would make it flow much faster. If we dont tell them, they won't do it.

OMG I haven't seen an AMC Pacer in like 20 years. That one was really tricked out! Love that 1969 Dodge Charger! Nothing says I'm a badass more than the hood scoop even if you trip over a canopy leg trying to get to it! Easily $100K So first time there for the drags and now you know for the next time.

I enjoyed every minute of this Mike, but that drag race wasn't done right. I've been to Lion's and OCIR back in the day and LACR out in Palmdale more recently before it closed 15 years ago and there were no overnighters unless they were racing and you just parked and walked to the gate to get your ticket and the races were on by 8am. Lion's may have run them later once they got lights. It doesn't need to be that complex. Stamps are ok, but unless I'm in the hospital, I refuse to wear wrist bands. That '40 Chevy Gasser was set up pre-1965 when the rule was they had to run stock suspension. The solid axel rule for gassers came in '65 when cars were doing wheelies off the line and the front tires came down hard and wishbone suspensions caused crashes. You should have stayed all night because you could have got lucky with one of those dragstrip gals.

Good meeting you two - I was too spent to make it - Also decided to cut my trip short so needed Saturday to do other things. It was my first time there so now I know what's what. If the temps are better next year I'll go and be prepared to spend the night

If you have ever driven a straight axle gasser you would know why the independent front suspension. That patch on your shirt that shows the drags at Ontario Raceway in 1975. That was the last drag race I went to. You should come out to Irwindale to see the racing.

Honestly😂not the greatest and baking your brain on concrete and asphalt in Tucson while breathing fuel/dirt and burnt rubber with temperatures over a 100 isn’t an activity most people really enjoy. I have done it but it doesn’t have the same allure anymore. Nice chair!
