What a wonderful story. I am Australian. When I was in the US in 2000 I met a number of servers of similar age and they were so accommodating, generous with their time and sincerely honest with their 'niceness' (if that is a word). We tipped what we could, but often think about these wonderful women who made our month in the United States of America that extra bit special. Thank you for posting this wonderful story. So glad you are out there making a difference to people's lives who make a big difference in people's lives.

Omg. Servers deserve recognition. Specially if they really go beyond. You don't know what a server go through unless you being a server. Is just too much. I m so happy to see someone recognize it. There is many people that deserves those that truly care and not motivated for the tip. I mean obviously we care. Is our living. Is the food we will be able to afford that day. But we as servers, monetarily depend of sooooo many factors. If someone does something beyond it duties. Please tell them it will make their day. Beautiful. Do more like this. I worked in retail for over 30 years. Everyone complains but hardly anyone days thank you. I ask for managers whenever I get good help or service to tell them what a great employee they have. She probably didn’t want to be promoted. She loves being a server and wouldn’t have it any other way. Reminds me of my dad, he’s a commercial plumber who was offered to become a higher up (I forgot what the title was, I only know he would’ve ordering everyone around) in the union but refused since he loves what he does. He’s been working for well over 20 years as a plumber now.

this was a wonderful thing to do for a lady who never would have asked for anything like this. she reminds me of my mom, always doing for others and going out of her way to bless people. i had no idea how many people she had touched until at her memorial service when several of them introduced themselves and told me what my mom had done for them. what a sweet lady. deserving of this and more, I am sure.
