Mitch, great video!! Would you recommend the Uni for a beginner first wing? What other wing would you consider for a beginner ?
@MitchG4 жыл бұрын
Universal is a great beginner wing. Ozone spyder is another option.

Sweet! Amazing altitude. If they close the Franklin's for sure I'll be out there! Looks very interesting. So, which launch is easier for crappy pilot me? Those rocks look like something I would land in... We were in the same time that day. It was classic. The far north end looks like it might have a launch near where they have been bulldozing. And there looks like other spots just below the top road all along the ridge.
@MitchG4 жыл бұрын
This launch is much easier and more room for error IMO. From the air it looks like you can launch from lots of spots but when you get up there those rocks and bushes are huge in person. Not enough room to lay a wing out. I think you can do this launch

How does this compare to a Spyder 3... I’m looking for a new wing. 26m size though :)
@MitchG4 жыл бұрын
The spyder is known for super easy launches. The universal isn't hard to launch at all, the spyder is just a little easier cause it's so lightweight. The universal is the better performer in the air. Universal has better handling and faster top speed
@AirbornePirates4 жыл бұрын
Mitch G thanks Mitch, what would you say is slower trims in?
@MitchG4 жыл бұрын
@@AirbornePirates That depends on wing loading but they will both be similar. Adding a little brake pressure helps as well.

Mitch, have you flown the Ozone Roadster 3? It's marketed as a similar wing to the Universal 1.1: good for both paramotor and free-flight, and possibly paramotor thermalling. Do you know how it compares to the Universal 1.1? I have a new Roadster 3 if you'd like to try it and provide your thoughts.

Did you need to change the brake pulley position for free flight? The Uni has three positions.

Nope. All factory
@kevincanfly4 жыл бұрын
Mitch, have you ever free flown a spyder? I have both ppg/pg wing loadings on the placard. I am thinking I should fly it on the white line but trims all the way in would be safe also??....
@MitchG4 жыл бұрын
I have only ground handled a spyder and flew one ppg. You should have trims all the way in for the lowest sink rate when freeflying.
@577buttfan4 жыл бұрын
I'll have a roadster 3 and the manual states it's suitable for FF..trims in and use speed bar and or trims for penetration or losing alt,same glider as the Spyder just heavier fabric.

Uni has TST. So, while thermaling is most efficient to keep glider flat as possible, can you use TST for steering?

Hmm. I havent tried. The regular brakes work really good for slow flat turns on the uni
