A year later after watching this video. Watched again and picked up some more useful info. Still loving my Universal. Thanks!

I am very impressed with your “teaching” and review of this wing. As a newbie, you spoke in terms I can understand. Thx for the education

Nice one. Its a great wing. I have 150 flights on my Universal and like it. I always launch and land 4-6 cm even in No wind. I think even beginners should launch with 2-3 CM because it comes up so much easier and straighter.

Thanks for the video I'm completely new to this and trying to learn. I bought a used but basically new set up and have this wing in 28m. Can't wait for it to get here to start practicing kitting.

Great video I have a new universal and took my first flight last weekend, I haven't fitted the tst yet or the speed bar and won't until I get more experience, but I understand more about them now I have watched this. However I do get a lot of torque so I will be adjusting the left side now. Thanks Al.

I like your preflight check for the wing and risers. Snags, tangles, and prop grabs can be fatal.

Great tutorial. I have this glider as well and will experiment with the trim range on takeoffs and landings. I'm normally trimmed all the way in for taking off and have found the Universal 1.1 to be difficult in nill wind. I'll trim out some and see how she does.
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 5 жыл бұрын
Robert Eshelman I'd suggest trimming out to 3 and give it a try. It'll make it come overhead faster, just be ready to check it with the brakes if needed

Any recommendations on where to get the best price on the Universal?
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 3 жыл бұрын
All of the dealers have the same prices if you’re buying brand new. Often times you can find lightly used ones for much less than new price. Try calling some Paramotor training schools that use/sell Dudek wings.

This video is so so great!! Thank you very much 😊 One question please, when I'm on just gliding I'm drifting to the right. This makes landing difficult as I have to hold the left break then flare from there. What is the best way to counter this using this wing's settings? Should I hook the carabineer to the upper position on the left or right side? Again, thank you so much!
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 5 жыл бұрын
I assume you are talking about gliding right before you land when you're getting out of your harness? My guess is that your weight is not centered and you are unconsciously leaning to the right. Do a bunch of low approaches and practice centering your weight when you're out of the harness. Also check that your leg straps are evenly adjusted. Hope that helps!

@@MartyG144 excellent ideas! I have tried everything. The issue is with my frame for sure. It happens even when idle and sitting. It is very noticeable. Many friends tried it an it only effects people with less wight than 70 kg. What can I do with the wing to counter this? I fly sky 1.1S motor.
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 5 жыл бұрын
@@Mermaider You could try using the TEA (Torque effect adjuster) system on the left side. It's worth a try. Also yes, try clipping in higher on the left carabiner.

I noticed you didn’t seem to warm you engine very long. Do you know if there’s any difference between the original Universal and the 1.1? Thanks for the video
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 4 жыл бұрын
I warmed it up prior to hooking into the wing (not on camera). I don't believe there's much difference with the 1.1, just that it's newer. I'm not 100% certain of that though, but I know if there are differences, they are minimal.
@michaeldose2041
@michaeldose2041 2 жыл бұрын
The run up is more about making sure you are getting full throttle. In other words, it is a system check more than a ''warm up''. Like anything else you don't want to find out you have throttle/linkage issues after you leave the ground. Unless it is a really cold day the difference in power is minimal from cold to full running temp. So basically if you are getting full power or close to it, your engine doesn't care if it is at full running temp. I know a lot of people are anal about it, and tell me I am wrong, but they can't explain why. These are two strokes. The oil tends to build up at low RPM. The reason they came up with oil injection wasn't for convenience it was more to keep the engine from fouling it's spark plugs at low RPM. When you mix the oil directly in the gas it is mixed for full throttle, that made long periods of idle a problem. In short make sure you are getting full throttle, and go. Long periods of idle, on a two stroke, do more harm than good, even if you do have oil injection.

@@michaeldose2041 The new Vittorazi manual recommends warming up, but I don’t believe it says why expect it’s better for the engine longevity. I’ve been told one reason it’s to let the engines different metals expand more uniformly. I have no idea if that’s true. I always warm up my Vittorazi motor, but rarely my 2-stroke leaf power with no problems.

What's your reasoning for not bringing the trims to 0 on landing?
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 5 жыл бұрын
More flare authority. The wing is so slow when fully trimmed in, there isn't much of a flare. I land it usually trimmed out to 9, which makes for a lot of energy to burn through the flare.

Is this something done in zero wind conditions, ?the flair wasn’t as affect trimmed all the way in.

Perfect Marty, So pretty much when not using the speed bar.. which I don't as I'm on a trike, the tip steering is available all the time as well as the brake .. however, brake should be used gently when trim is all out or past 6. Do you fold your wing up any special way or pretty much the standard stuff bag approach? Thanks!!
@MartyG144
@MartyG144 5 жыл бұрын
Bob C Not quite... 1. You can use tip steering at any time even with speedbar 2. Do not use your main brakes when trimmed out past 12cm. 3. Do not use your main brakes at all if the speedbar is applied
