Notable cards in set include Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Qliphort Monolith, Uni-Zombie, Nephe Shaddoll Fusion, and a card that would bolster Satellarknight to combat the Burning Abyss Shaddoll meta, Stellarknight Constellar Diamond. In this series, both Nyhmnim and myself will be opening 24 booster packs or 1 box of a core Yu-Gi-Oh! booster set. We will build a deck and play a best 2 out of 3, and the winner will receive a small prize to upgrade their deck. HOWEVER! @sekaihunter93782 жыл бұрын
@@pandaman1331 Like they said, the format still had so many floodgates that stunned Shaddoll on its track. Vanity wasn't banned until the very end of 2015, and Shadow Mirror wasn't just good against Shaddoll but against BA too so it was used in all sorts of side deck and even main deck. Shaddoll Fusion isn't inherently broken unless opponent control an ED monster, which makes it become a Poly turn 1, and if the Shaddoll player dare to chose to blind second for SF's full potential, then of course the opponent WILL have their turn 1 setting up all kinds of floodgates. And the funny part is, they would just flip those floodgates up before you had the chance to summon Sekka, so every time you must have another backrow removals on top of it.
@pandaman13312 жыл бұрын
@@sekaihunter9378 The thing is, I had a this exact duel from 2015 on my friend's and my channel. And he stomped me with Shaddolls. The thing here is, we don't play with side decks. The Folldgates are nice and all but Vanity's isn't exactly difficult to remove for Shaddolls. And unlike Stellarknights, Shaddolls float a lot and gain advantage every time they are removed from the field. So even with floodgates, Shaddolls will simply outgrind Satellarknights. That's why I'm pretty sure that the main rason Tellarknights could compete was because of the side-deck. With cards like Anti-Spell Fragrance. But feel free to share your thought on it. @@stuckmeister7750 In this episode the floodgates that make an impact are Shadow-imprisoning Mirror(Released in 2007)and Vanity's Emptiness(Released in 2010). Neither of these are DM era floodgates. Soul Charge is also an incredibly unfun card, which was released in 2014. In terms of cards from the set itself: Shaddoll Construct is a card that provides far more value than any card should, doing something when it ETBs, battles, and Dies; Furthermore Shaddoll Fusion is lazy card design that circumvents the effort required for a regular fusion summon and carries an arbitrary restriction which is ultimately pointless when decks are built to put out bosses from the extra deck. Something funny about Duelist Alliance for me, is how every card in that set doesn’t miss timing, except the floating effects of the Yang Zing. Which frustrates me, since I might be the last Yang Zing player out there… I mainly just splash the Yang Zing Zefras into pendulum strats or Metalfoes. Also for the first time since Snowmaneater in late 5Ds era flip effects are relevant. Someone that will only ever happen again when Subterror Guru get released in Vrains. I think it’s interesting that DA was clearly made, with the goal of having every major summoning mechanic represented in a major way and I would argue for the first time, the monsters were all made with that summoning mechanic in mind. Shaddoll is fusion, Satellarknights are xyz, Yang Zing Synchro, and Odd-eyes-Performapal the new Pendulum mechanic. This theming clearly continues in the next couple of sets with the minor summoning mechanics, Ritual with Nekroz and tribute summons with Qli Also noteworthy is for me, that for the first time it feels like every card released had a clear and direct impact on the gamestate, which really made the pace of modern Yugioh

I was 19 at the time, and I brought my Pyro Burn deck (which was literally just three Blaze of Destruction structure decks) to a local tournament. I remember getting absolutely cremated by Yang Zings and Lightsworns. The guy playing Yang Zings still comes to the same locals to this day, except he's on Tear Sprights and I'm on going 2nd Swordsoul. Man this set brings back memories. Something worth noting that may be touched on later in the series, some Satellar players began running Pinpoint Guard over Call of the Haunted, trading the ability to recycle the Trap with a future Triverr for the guarantee that the monster revived off of its effect survives for a turn, as well as being summoned in Defense position to prevent battle damage - something that came up surprisingly frequently when using Call of the Haunted.

I vividly remember this set. It really is one of the best sets of all time. I actually still have my shaddoll deck to this day. But even more I remember this set because after it released on a Friday, that Saturday was my first ever regional that I played in. I played fire fist after finally finishing it, thinking it would be one of my best decks because it was just previously 3.5 axis format. I entered the tournament the day after the set dropped and got wrecked by every single archetype that this set released. I remember activate warning on a flip shaddoll Only to learn that it got an effect. Anyway. I remember losing to skill drain yang zing summoning a goyo guardian that was unaffected by skill drain that just wrecked my day. I remember teller and ba both being underrated at this regionals. Actually at the start of the day deneb was less than $20 and by the end of the day it had skyrocketed to over $45 per copy. Dante was actually a very similar situation. I believe the initial was something like $10 to $15 and it's skyrocketed up and beyond. I finished 194th out of over 500 I believe at my first regional and was proud of that! I know in a few further sets down the road, my buddy pulled a Dante and traded it straight up for a first edition. Ghost stardust when Dante peeked at like $90 ( I believe this was after the release of Beatrice, but still). I remember abyss dweller jumping in price from being worth almost nothing to being a $25 super rare because of shaddoll and ba. I actually got my first copy by trading a Dante that I pulled for that and a Draco sack. When Dante's were $50. I went on the pick up and build but shaddoll and tellars and then actually combine them into. a tellardoll deck that was just a blast! I actually still have the the profile on my account if anyone would be interested, you go check it out. It was a super fun deck(please ignore any cringe moments. I was new to meta and in college so it's a cheap laptop recording and I'm ignorant) But thank you guys for doing this. It's such a trip down memory lane and is just an awesome feeling.

Where to even start, attacking with non-tellarknights after using Altair? Drawing for 1st turn? Vanity's staying on the field after sending off Mathematician? Felis triggering off Shaddoll Fusion? I get that this is for entertainment and it's just duels between 2 friends but can we at least have SOME reading?
@bighonkies2 жыл бұрын
I ran a Bujin/shaddoll deck during this format. Lots of times I'd play Bujins during game one, then drop shaddoll fusion on them game 2 after they make their board.

Hype for the best set in all of Yugioh. I cannot wait for history of jank to hit this set, the format was *filled* with it
@Yugiohdeckmaster412 жыл бұрын
2 things, 1 baby dragon (wyvern and collapse) can combo and banish eclipse 2 felis cant be summoned like wulf, only when sent by monster effect, hence why its at 1 along side 3 mathematician cause that the combo for the level 7 synchro spellcaster

This is so nostalgic for me, the set that i entered into yugioh during and the awesome Shaddoll archtype which was my first meta deck. Immediately in game one as soon as i saw Cimo's hand he should have just raw fusioned for Winda and plused off beast and Hedge then let Winda sit on the field holding down Josephs specials to 1. Not setting that up allows tellars to just Deneb set 4 pass and you're so behind on advantage at that point, plus El shaddoll fusion wasn't released yet so the hedge search was pretty pointless and those backrow just hammered in the game. Winda is kinda an auto win against a lot of decks if you can protect it and gain your own advantage slowly since he had the shadow games and could have had access to any doll after the hedge search if he went raw Winda first turn, just my experience i played dolls vs tellars so much at YCS Chicago.

Satellarknight names just make me want to rewatch Bakemonogatari again.

I never finished it, I forgot her name but that weird girl with the black hair in the later seasons (owaraminogatari?) put me off

Tellarknight Dennis, Assassins Creed, Ukulele, Vegas and Del Taco. Those were nicknames people had for the monsters and I cannot hear them otherwise.

I feel like MBT should have resigned upon Cimooo's legendary topdeck. That HAS to be in the highlight reel. Holy shit. It's a damn shame that Shadow Imprison pretty much blanked it
@zeusalternative12702 жыл бұрын
Today in illegal plays: 27:30 MBT activated Altair so only Tellarknights can attack, so Castel attack was illegal 29:08 Mathematician mill shuts down Emptiness which means that MBTs call of the haunted are live, he could had survived. 36:02 Felis only revives herself if milled by a monster effect, not a spell like Shadoll fusion And as a missplay in 33:06 Winda effect activates if send to GY in general so it works when detached as material when 101 dies so Cimo could get back his fusion.

Oh god, I remember this time in yugioh far too well. Tellarknight, Vanities, the Rank 4 Suite thats been good before and will continue to be good later

This set is the last time I really bought a lot of sealed product of Yugioh. I bought four boxes, wanting to play Shaddolls. I thought the archetype seemed really cool, and I liked Winda being able to shut down excessive special summoning. HOWEVER, out of four whole boxes I pulled exactly one Shaddoll Fusion. Wasn't happy about that. So instead I pivoted and played Burning Abyss after pulling three copies of Dante. The resource loop of that deck with three cir, graff, and dante made it easy to grind out games until finding a win condition.

This is my favourite era of YGO and I’m so glad you’ve finally reached it! I can’t believe Shaddoll isn’t playing 3 soul charge but Tellarknight is playing 2. Players seem to still have a sense of morality before we all went oonga boonga FTK

This right when players realized that every deck can be anti meta lockdown and quasar at the same time lol

Ah, a milestone in my memories of this game, the set that made me seriously consider giving up Yugioh for good. A bit of a forerunner to the last straw that came later, the dreaded MR4...

You know what's concerning. Cimo is still playing Bls. That means that gage will still be tunneling into chaos by this point. Oh no.

The next Yugioh series protagonist needs to be Cimo. If he doesn't have the Heart of the Cards on his side, no other human being does

Just thought I'd point out as a Lightsworn player that you couldn't have activated Felis' effect off of Shaddoll Fusion; she can only be summoned if milled by a monster effect.
@ghgfjfgkghdfh2 жыл бұрын
Yeah i agree with MBT's rant after the match, because it really showcased the power of floodgates and how degenerate they can be when the best decks of the meta are all entirely archetype based and can be shutdown by targeted floodgates, and the how swingy games can be with Soul Charge being in the game and the availability of generic rank 4 removal.
@Dunker4012 жыл бұрын
I think they are underselling triverr. Like satellar without triverr is just a fair control deck. With triverr it’s a completely different beast. It literally made the deck one of the most oppressive control strategies of the format, and it’s a shame we are probably not gonna see the deck at full power.
@darkcreeper43162 жыл бұрын
17:50 no idea why Cimo didn't make winda here searching falco and drawing 1 with beast having the perfect set-up for next turn... Especially against a deck like satellarknight that plays 20 or so backrows
@SirenLuna1072 жыл бұрын
I loved playing shaddol heros Dark Law+Construct turn one plus backrow was so oppressive
