As they said at after the match, these duels showed that early BA was good, but it wouldn’t go over the top until it got its later support. I think down the line we’ll see this particular match run back when each of these decks get their new support. Farfa, Barbar, Calcab, Burning Lake and Beatrice for Burning Abyss. Denglong, Yazi and Zefranui for Yang Zing.

Honestly, I played Yang Zing during this format and it was terrible to play a mirror match. We clogged up both fields and our hands. It wasn’t until next set with Jiaotu and Yazi that it got better and more playable. Unfortunately the Qliphorts came out in the same set.

This set introduced the Infernoids, a series of monsters that can Special Summon themselves to the field by banishing other Infernoids from either the hand or graveyard. Notable cards in set include Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss, Qliphort Monolith, Uni-Zombie, Nephe Shaddoll Fusion, and a card that would bolster Satellarknight to combat the Burning Abyss Shaddoll meta, Stellarknight Constellar Diamond. In this series, both Nyhmnim and myself will be opening 24 booster packs or 1 box of a core Yu-Gi-Oh! booster set. We will build a deck and play a best 2 out of 3, and the winner will receive a small prize to upgrade their deck. HOWEVER! Each episode, we will open another box of the next set that was released moving in chronological order, constantly upgrading our decks before dueling each other at the end of each episode. Is it first turn draw or not? Cimoooooooo drew when he went first g2 but MBT didn't draw when he went first in games 1 & 3. The entire game would've been different if Alex didn't have a scarm to pitch off of karma cut to get the 2nd tour guide (The one that actually got his plays started.) [EDIT:] I guess ultimately it didn't matter, as MBT won out the set anyway, but it would've been a much faster victory if he'd drawn for turn and had the creation turn 1 (we knew that would have been his draw thanks to duality.)

people really over exaggerate how big of a deal cards missing the timing was yeah it would happen a lot with cards like dupe frog where if you tributed over them or used them as synchro material they couldn't float but with cards like the yang zings or the hands they would pretty much always resolve. You can't miss timing on battle and no much missed timing in terms of destruction unless you were like doing a quick play pop with an mst in front of it which was really few and far between. The reason its remembered so much was simply because it was just really funny when it did happen.

ah yes yang zing. The "missing the timing" isn't the only thing that's confusing; the names of these monsters are heinous to read and pronounce. These monsters are based on ancient mythical Chinese beasts, and because the names are ancient they are some of the weirdest looking characters. For example, Bixi in Chinese it's 贔屭. Unless you specifically have looked it up before, you won't know how it should be properly pronounced lol

Continuous trap cards with optional trigger effects that trigger off of things inherent to the damage step, like destruction by battle CAN be activated in the damage step, if you are specifically activating the card in order to use the optional effect on the card. This BA deck should 100% be playing 3 Dante 3 Downerd (downerd was important because it guaranteed Dante hitting the GY and everyone was playing wing blast, compulse, etc to counter the influx of powerful extra deck cards that float in grave)

One of the cool things you can do in Yang Zing specifically is use a Chiwen and a Suanni to make a 2800 ATK Armades, which if the BA player didn't have exactly Karma Cut or PWWB was a huge blowout since you could attack into a Dante and cancel the entire chain of effects from resolving. I am glad we saw a Yang Zing build without Supply Squad too, card was SO BAD in Yang Zing despite seeming like a natural home for it. Gonna be excited for this once we get Jiaotu next set as that card is impressively powerful in the deck and I think Yang Zing went a little under the radar when you could Jiaotu into a Chaofeng that beat every single match-up. Cool games all told.

Also at least imo, the Astral Force stuff was pretty good and the BLS / Chaos Sorc was cope. You didn't really want to banish Dante from the GY especially if you're running two and you can actually recur Astral Force from the GY which is why it was played in the deck.

I played 40 monster burning abyss at this time.. seeing back row in a b.a. is sickning. The deck would literally put 3 Dante's on board turn 1 mill 9 and dare you, to think you where playing out of it. Burning abyss is my all time favorite deck because it's the first actual deck that you can play fully from your graveyard. Every turn, You could summon redox back and edge imp sabers. Along with glow up bulb and spore , you could actually make dracosack and big eye... With peropero Cerberus to pop cards when you take damage and the crane crane to be your 4th tour guide. Omg this deck was so amazing

@@Click3tyClick yea , I know I meant that I was playing them monster mash from their inception. As new cards that fit my strat dropped I added them in as they dropped. My original idea was to make acid golem turbo with creature swap when I realized how many level 3's where free ss. Then I actually realized Dante was not opt I completely bought into monster mash mill. The initial build was kagamusha tour guide/crane crane birdman and all the other level 3 that were ss. I know once they limited the original 3(cir,graff) Beatrice dropped and then it became what I described earlier, but my point is I always played without the traps. The traps made the deck bad to me because they conflicted so heavily. Why would I want to draw a trap when if I put 3 Dantes on board( that you can't really veiler) I can mill 9,set off up to 3 effs depending on how many b.a I sent(and these are the good ones), sit behind a 2500 booty and then basically get all my resources back.. It just ddnt make sense to me then and still doesn't now... I mean you would have to side mst, for flood gates , but...generally you were throwing you hand on the board your deck in the grave and just saying come at me bro... Dude I remember dropping 7500 dmg on turn 2, them moving all three to def after...aww man I love that deck. Sorry for rambling

I remember playing Yang Zings when they came out. It was a fun deck. There was 1 duel I had on YgoPro, where I was facing someone with a Lightsworn deck. I ended up on the defensive while he pulled out Judgment Dragon. He burned through his lifepoints while I kept cycling through my Yang Zings, using them as a wall, all in 1 turn. I think I won that duel (it was early Pendulum format), & it gave me good memories. Shame I don't have the replay of the duel.

still watching but misplays so far, Armory Arm made with Biian game 2 can't be destroyed by battle which is very relevant because it couldn't have been hit over by something like Grenosaurus later when that would hit the board, unless Joseph still wanted to commit to the board in which case there was no difference in the result. Man i'm feeling old. This is the set that kindof got me to take a break from yugioh for quite awhile. I do actually miss the game a bunch and been thinking on making a small comeback now that I have learned most people don't use the pendulum mechanic. But I did enjoy the XYZ n synchro tech. :)

Sadly Yang Zing gets practically replaced later on by Qliporth until Yazi/Denwong comes off which basically reduces the deck into mere engine thats still good today, but its only a shadow of what they could have been. Thanks "When" and "You can".

I completely forgot about Masked Chameleon's entire existence. That card was pretty cope, but I remember having to play it. BA is the biggest "What If" of my competitive Yugioh career. I remember wanting to buy the deck when it came out when it was really cheap, but I was in school and not really playing. Lo and behold, a month later, the deck spikes in price once everyone realizes it's a deck that can stand up to dolls. I would likely still be playing BA if I had picked up the deck back then.

Unfortunately Supply Squad was cope and not actually very good in BA, not sure where Cimo found this list when there were event winning BA lists from like 1 month after DUEA released that had the deck figured out way better.

@@Click3tyClick sadly after having seen the duel I agree 100% it really seemed like if you don’t want to destroy your own monsters (maybe scrap) it does nothing to interact and is basically a stronger jar of greed with the stipulation that it’s far more restrictive. Even if you do want to kill your own monsters it doesn’t help with consistency till multiple turns later as well
