I really like how this movie tricks you into thinking it's just gonna be a low-budget small-scale comedy, and then the epic doomsday spectacle just keeps escalating and escalating until it's like a summer blockbuster.

A VERY similar film is 'The Interview' ALSO written by Seth Rogen, ALSO starring him and Franco, ALSO with Franco playing a douchebag. Its HILARIOUS like this one. Yes, it's the 'North Korea' one! (Jonah also wrote some of the jokes in it...and sascha baron cohen did too!)

I look at it as the “end” (no pun intended) of this type of organic comedy. None of these actors have done anything to the level of PRE “this is the end”. To me this movie marks the end of an era.

When I was 14, I met my wife because of this film. My friend asked me to go the cinemas, but he didn't tell me he was bringing his girlfriend, and she brought a friend. We felt strange when both of them stated kissing during the film, so we ended up leaving without them noticing and ended up at McDonalds across from the cinema, we ended up talking and getting along, so we would meet every Saturday at McDonald's for two months and just talk about what we did at school. When we got to the bus stop, she kissed me, and that's when I asked her to be my girlfriend. To this day, we still meet at the same McDonald's and talk about the week.

The best thing about this movie is the behind the scenes stuff.. like.. 1. Michael Cera asked Rihanna if he could really smack her ass, she said only if she really gets to smack his face.. he agreed. 2. Most of the crazy stuff said in this was improv like the whole jizzing ask over everything scene 3. Everybody made a bet to each other, daring each other to do more and more extreme stuff. Apparently James Franco was the only one that never refused to do what they dared him to do.. a lot of the crazy antics in this are from dares to each other

I actually watched that when I was living in South Korea. There was even a balloon campaign (where south korea drops balloon messages or packages over the border) where a few groups of people where sending the dvd over to North Korea. I think they even played it over the sound system towards North Korea at the DMZ. Still cracks me up.

Watch The Interview. It was pretty much removed from theatrical release when it came out due to North Korea potentially being offended/possibly retaliating against the US. If you enjoyed this and you generally like Rogen and Franco together, then you will enjoy The Interview.

5:20 Rihanna gave Cera permission to slap her butt for real, but she said only if she could slap him back. The slap was real and it caused him to have to lay down in his RV for about 30 mins because she hit his ear and screwed up his equilibrium.
