Interesting is that in LameDuke the slimer could only be killed with the plasma gun. I'm assuming that was done deliberately, because the devs had some kind of vision for the creature that we never got to see due to the the plasma gun getting scrapped and the the enemy being tedious to deal with anyhow (if they had kept the plasma gun, but the player didn't have it for whatever reason, i.e. dying and restarting with a pistol).

I played this really long ago. In a way it was cool because it was like having a full version of the game for free, but it actually wasn't the proper duke game from the final build. There were some cool things going on in the levels, like spaceships flying around outside to give the illusion of the outer space areas being more alive. Speaking of skins: You should have copied the "tiles005" into your Duke-directory, it contains the Duke-skin. I extracted the Lame-Duke-skin into normal Duke, so you could watch that skin in the mirror of Hollywood, if you show all the old types of enemies.

The trooper and android enemies look interesting, As if they were the kind of typical dangers Duke would fight in between stopping supervillians and alien attacks. Duke might have been the type of military character that was singlehandedly taking down dictatorships all over the world on government orders which fits in with his 80s action film persona. It could be seen as a day in the life for Duke fighting rank and file soldiers and drone units in some war torn part of the world. No aliens (or as we see very little), no mad scientists, just The King getting into the nitty gritty of more realistic military work. But the Devs probably saw that as boring and scrapped most of it believing that a more grandiose story of Duke fighting a bigger invasion would pull in more players. although personally a COD style game about Duke in a more realistic setting fighting foreign troops in Infinite Warfare style armor taking down a petty dictatorship would also be pretty interesting to play as well.

This can be found in what's called Lameduke, not later versions as far as I know. As a bonus, there's also some influences in Duke Nukem Forever 2001, such as the flying police cars.

@@johnedelmann6711 Ahhh.. you're right. I show off a lot of these things in my Lameduke videos! (please feel free to check em out) But you're right, it is very Blade Runner-like! I'd never made the connection before. Thanks :)

I agree. Thanks for watching! :)

The very first prototype makes the comparison even more obvious. The HUDs look almost alike.

Yep :) It's available to download if you just search it online. I think I got my copy from Archive.org. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. :)

Ewwww, the cursed Randy version 🤢 But yeah, I did play a bit of LameDuke, though for whatever reason, it looked different from anything anyone's ever shown, or rather, it looked like what you're showing off in the video here, but it was all from a second person perspective or something. Honestly, I wish they kept this setting for the final game, because it fits in much better with what's established in DN1's skyboxes and DN2's prologue (NeoLA, futuristic skyscrapers, the works). Interestingly enough, only the 1994 build seems to actually feature the Rigelatin rifle that Duke uses in DN2 and supposedly escaped with, or at least I'm assuming that it's that weapon, since it's an energy rifle that shoots blue energy bolts.

Nice video you have here dude, but try not to sound so dead? IDK if it's your actual voice or you tried to someone' impression, but seriously with the slow pace of the video and the voice it was really hard to watch. I watched it halfway through at 1.5x

I totally get the criticism. I had no idea what I was doing when making this video. Still learning. :) Thanks for the comment.

NOTE TO ALL KZbinRS, please put more effort into your audio mixing. Listening to a low voice is no problems but when its follow by loud music it kind of sucks for background entertainment.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm working on it, don't worry. I literally had no idea what I was doing here as I'd never made a video before. Next videos should be better. :) Cheers.

@@revenantevil To be clear I did enjoy the video, just something that's been grinding my gears lately. I appreciate your reply and if you are new to this then I say bravo, your doing great. I look forward to seeing some of your other videos in the future. You made another subscriber today.

I appreciate the kind words my friend. I totally understand the audio levels being bad here. I wasn't even using a pop filter on my microphone. I'm using way better software now too so I'm able to track audio levels a lot clearer. It's good to have you on board. Thanks again!

may 2022 and you still haven't got a pop-filter for your mic, or use high pass filter (free, adobe premiere or DaVinchi has this, or u can use Adobe audition or probably audacity) on your narration audio (you could use both). Come on.... this is youtube audio 101. The most basic shit you should do. Without it, it makes subwoofers go POP BAND BOOF whenever you say something with a P or T in it (or other noise that the mic pics up). PLEASE fix.

Hey man. Thanks for the feedback. I have gotten a pop filter recently so my audio should be better in my next video. I didn't know how much to invest into equipment here as it was only my first video. Thanks for the comment :)
