I have decided to republish this video because I received feedback the previous version needed to be visually brighter and include more contrast. The audio is the same. Sure wish I could import all of your amazing comments!! While still an amateur with filming & editing videos, I’m doing my best to get better. Thanks for your patience & understanding. I have more videos on the way soon - stay tuned!

When I started playing dulcimer back in the 1980s, I was inspired by Malcolm Dalglish's solo dulcimer LP "Jogging the Memory" for the freshness of his compositions and stellar playing. I've long thought I'd never hear another American player impress me like that but Joshua certainly does, and this tune in particular is a joy to see and hear. Well done!

I keep playing this video. Apart from the fact that this dropped on my birthday (which I consider a personal gift) I can't help but still be amazed at the fluid mechanics with which you play. With a basic understanding of the instrument with the breaks to either side of the bridge, I'm not certain whether it's more fun to watch or listen to? I can only really compare the ease of your playing with my fascination of watching Chico Marx play piano. And congratulations on the new home!

@JoshuaMessick3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear from you again! Glad you enjoyed it. I actually don't remember how cold it was ;-) Heat and cold are a minor concern, but only in radically extreme conditions (like -20F or 130F) The much bigger concern is extreme humidity (dry or wet) for an extended period of time. The optimal humidity is 50%. Try not let your acoustic instrument below 30% or above 80% for an extended period of time.
