Don't count on it. The Navy has cancelled its LCS program and all current Freedom class LCS ships are being scrapped in 2023. The MSP and the 5 others undergoing construction will be the only ships of the class remaining, until they are replaced by the new Constellation class frigates. The LCS was to have been a unique design with modular mission capabilities from ASW to Strike, but have suffered numerous mechanical issues and non-completion of modules, creating a cost overrun of immense proportions.

Yeah, the older freedom class ships are sadly being retired, they were too late in their construction or already in service to try and fix their design flaws without spending more than the ships were worth. This ship and five others were early enough along in construction that they were able (supposedly) to fix the known issues, and the Navy’s spend the last two years fixing, testing and pushing this ship to her limits before deciding to accept her. In a roundabout way its sort of a slap in the face to the cities of MSP to have an LCS named after them. The "little crappy ships" as they've become known have been nothing but a disappointment for the Navy, and they've begun decommissioning the LCS ships, even though some are not even 2 years old. I wonder how long LCS 21 (Minneapolis-St Paul) will remain on active-duty before IT becomes the victim of the Navy budget axe. Eventually all LCS ships will be replaced by the proposed Constellation class frigates. There are currently 9 Freedom class LCS in the US Navy. All of them will be decommissioned in 2023. The LCS MSP will be the only ship remaining of its class, while 5 more LCS are being built.
