Back on my 2a i fitted a salsbury but had to do a rebuild ,when i picked up the bearings from bearing services a timken book acadentaly found its way off the counter into my box of bit's ,still use it today for limits and fits on taper roller bearings. Great video mike

It all seems a bit of a dark art certainly Mike. Must be difficult to explain, but you're doing a grand job so far.

Had 5 goes at this so far - I seem to have missed bits out when I play back

l remember putting a elocker in my Salisbury, wasn't easy at all and there was nearly double the backlash when l checked it. I did adjust the backlash to get it within the tolerances but then it whined a bit. l got a new pinion and gear to put in so l will have my eyes on you.😊😊

They are more of a faff on to video than do the job - done some bits 5 times now!

LoL! Realized I was getting to be a porker in January, so stopped eating carbohydrates and all sugars - dropped 45lbs in 6 months!

Great stuff. At the risk of being a damned nuisance, could you take the measurements of the pinion - the diameter of the shaft where each' bearing sits, the length of each section (gear head, each bearing seat, the void between bearings, splines and so on) and the spline dimensions, please? I can’t find any dimensions online and I want to see if the Dana60 gears I have are going to fit before I immobilise the car - I know I’m going to need a collar for the forward bearing inner race, but I have no idea if the Salisbury flange will fit the Dana splines (I have what seems to be a rare 10 spline Dana pinion). If it is too time consuming, don’t worry!

I already have the pinion bearing pressed on the shaft, but the inner bearing part numbers are HM803146 (bearing) HM803110 (race) Outer (nose) HM88649 (bearing) & HM88610 (race) Google Timken, and they have the CAD drawings of the bearings - will check the spline later

Len - This is the hardest video to make - done the 5 times now there are so many details, but if I miss them out, you will not understand! However, these jobs do need an investment in measuring tools, and for the DIY man (or woman lol) it may not be worth it - but it is certainly interesting to find out how these function!
