Making more sense now. Can't see me having to rebuild or adjust mine (if I can help it), but very good to know all the same.

Someone had been in this before, as the bearings were Chinese Had they been Timken, then the original shims would be right - however the ATB may not be exactly the same dimensions as the original diff

Hi Bud! Bit of a boomer when it comes to KZbin, totally unrelated topic. I was wondering if you knew the procedure/Legislation/ what on earth I need to do to get my 1998 300 Tdi LHD from the UK to Florida, its unregistered at the moment and apparently has a Nova certificate which I'm trying to attain but don't really understand a lot of it haha. no worries if not!

I really think you've found a niche here and could be very profitable. Far better than crawling under a truck changing the swivel hubs in freezing cold weather.

What comes to my mind is that it has not so well design in the design office factory from the beginning as it's complicated to intervene in case of normal wear for repair purpose. It's in the details that you see if a system has been correctly designed and thought from the start, and it takes time. That also the reason I prefer old mechanics from the 60 to 80, they took time to think in case you have to repair and exchange parts easily.
