Dumount Vs Bergeon Tweezers

So which to buy out the to, I'd have to say the Bergeon set are great at the price and dare I say it but a bit of a bargain

Putting aside that my jaw dropped when you specified the price of a single Dumount tweezer; I think that when a watchmaker arrives to the process of watch making, the tools should feel natural, blended, just an extension of the hands and eyes and then the focus is all on the art. I appreciate that your sharing your excitement with us, hope to see more!

I have picked up a good few Precista inox tweezers and I find these very good.. Love my Bergeon Bronze tweezers also..

Good to know I've not tried that brand, I now have two set of the Bergeon's plus there carbon ones two and 3 Dumount tweezers

As a hand surgeon I use micro instruments a lot for nerve repairs, repairing blood vessels which are tiny etc The factors that are important for me are: how well they close, critical actually The length of taper from broad/narrow transition to tip, working distance determined by this Ridged vs smooth grips less important for you as it’s all dry with latex gloves or glove tips I imagine Resistance to pressure important like you said. Higher resistance means harder to cause damage to tissue/watch component, more forgiving, downside is finger fatigue if you’re there for hours Material. Not sure if titanium is a great choice as it’s softer than stainless steel and deforms at the tips more easily. And very sensible to look after them like you do Great vid as always

Nice video but I think bergeon 7024 set is cheaper than dumostar because they are not fully anti-magnetic like dumostar is. Bergeon catalouge says that they are only %65 non-magnetic. Bergeon 7028 is fully anti-magnetic like dumostar.

I still find Dumount pick up magnetism every some often but I have a damag on the bench so its not so much of a problem

Thanks for this Barry, I think that the point here is that quality tools are expensive. However, you need the quality when handling an expensive movement. It's money well spent. Cheers, Bob 👋 🙂🍻

The right there Bob my only problem is I need two set of everything as Ive already repairing watches for customers at home but I also need a full set of tools at University 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have a random question. Are the tips sharp enough to pierce the skin to remove an ingrown hair or a splinter?

I've found Italian made Viola tweezer to be exceptionally well made and a fraction of the price of Dumonts.

I've not tried them ones , but being the Bergeon ones are only about £18 each for the 3 pack I think there pretty good . For work I still like my Dumount's

True and many bad ones also, if you use them for 8+ hours a day like I do I want very good ones, The last thing you want is for an endstone or a shock spring to fly of your tweezer and cost silly money to replace 👍🏻
