Just some advice from a successful bowhunter. Get a quality sight, rest, arrows (.003 or better). Stick with that setup for a few years. I know it may be trendy to "ABT" but this can also lead to never getting comfortable in your skills because you always just throw something new on the bow and maybe that is changing the way you shoot or maybe you are just changing the way you shoot. Once you start to feel really good about your form and archery habits and hunting tactics, then I would suggest to start potentially upgrading things that actually matter to you. Just take my advice for what it is...2 cents. Good luck.
@jesselost054202 жыл бұрын
@@HuntsT Thanks for the advice. I have the good equipment it is just gaining the knowledge to be able to comfortably mess with things like tying in my own peep sight or d loop. I can't imagine trying to even swap strings out at this point haha. I did not realize how involved bowhunting was when I picked it up 2 yrs ago. I am killing bears already with my bow tho so I am doing something half right lol.
@HuntsT2 жыл бұрын
@@jesselost05420 no doubt man. That’s what makes archery fun. It is intricate. If you are mechanically inclined you can definitely learn a lot on KZbin. Since you are so far from a bow shop if you have the money, you may want to look at investing in a press like portable Last Chance Archery Press. If you have quality strings and you take care of them, once you get the bow tuned and timed correctly it shouldn’t move for at least a 1-2 thousand shots. Tying on a D-Loop is pretty easy, there are a few different methods to do it. I tend to like the way Eli Morgan does his. Serving in a peep is also not complicated, but again, this only needs to be done when changing strings. The biggest thing is practice and continue to push yourself out of your comfort zone. I hate losing arrows, but I know if I practice at a far distance or a hard shot, there is a possibility of that happening. That adds pressure much like taking an animal. I have to be ok with the outcome (whatever it is) once I release that arrow. Do that enough times and you will start to build confidence…that’s all you need.
@pennyontrack2 жыл бұрын
@@jesselost05420 you are smart to not get to into ABT too quick. Couple words of advice. 1. Be very careful checking your draw weight on a scale as it’s easy to derail your string and you won’t care what weight it pulled when that string comes flying off. 2. Do not back your limb bolts out very far and risk having the bolt come flying out and your string, limbs, and cables end up in a big pile on your bench while you say to yourself ……. I wish I never touched this thing. Both from personal experience on a brand new bow that was fine and didnt need to be “tinkered” with

Do you measure the amount of d-loop material you use to make a loop? I always recommend that to keep the feel of the DL the same 32nd can make the bow feel long or short. In regards to the BG do you have to use that allen wrench to unlock the vertical and horizontal travels? I like the scope better than everything out! Black Gold needs a rail system for the slider and non allen micro lock/unlock and I would love one. Every other top manufacture has a rail system now. Just much more robust. That allen issue we send more MBG back for stripped bolts than all other manufactures combined and my issue with them. The Dual Track scope legit!

As someone who hunts out of ground blinds, I'm not sure I like the way Black Gold does the sight light. Am I correct in thinking that whole photochromatic shell on top lights up emitting a bright glow on every side? Concerened deer or elk would see that sitting in a dark ground blind. Also concerened that would throw off you own eyesight with a bright light up close, constricting your pupils and not letting in enough light in those final minutes of legal light. What has your experience been?
@cwilson802 жыл бұрын
The photochromnatic shell will turn dark purple in bright sunlight witch prevents the halo/blurring that can sometimes happen in bright sunlight. It does not emit a bright glow or light at all. I have been using Black Gold sights for years. I have tried many different sights and the Black Gold pins are the brightest and sharpest pins I have ever seen on a sight.
@KA-lm6sp2 жыл бұрын
@@cwilson80 Yep I understand all of that and how it functions in bright sunlight, but that is not what I am asking. I'm asking how it functions when you turn on a sight light sitting in a dark ground blind. Especially when it's also low light outside. Seems like the sight light is going to light up that shell and animals will be able to see it shining perhaps?
@cwilson802 жыл бұрын
@@KA-lm6sp Got it…sorry for the misunderstanding. I have never tried a sight light with my Black Gold. Only thing I can say is one early morning sitting on a ridge at sunrise I could see my pins clearly in very low light while my two buddies (one had a Spot Hogg and the other had a Trophy Ridge) could not see there pins very well until the sun came up a little more. I know this probably doesn’t help answer your question but just my 2 cents. Good luck and good hunting!

John, IMO, using a vise is a good starting point THEN at full draw with a buddy. Your form will derail what your vise dialed it in as...it may not. Always set third axis with whatever accessories you have and / or plan on shooting with attached to your bow. Especially a loaded quiver, less one arrow. Just my thoughts. Cheers.
@crazyasian19752 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I did the vise and then full draw to check my 3rd axis but wanted to make sure since my sight is slightly titled right.
@brpnw4r942 жыл бұрын
@John Pham .. No problem, not gonna get into too much here because it's tough to explain in words...but when you say tilted right...you mean bubble is right side of level at full draw? Or in the vise? Keep in mind that 1st/2nd should be dialed in first (using a vise and proper levels) and NOT adjusted again unless the bow is dropped or to much tinkering. Lol. Sounds like you're on the right track. Cheers
