@Paul Paul during a live stream about three months ago sadly yeah, Mark and Jack announced it eats up all their time and it’s not very profitable, at least as much as some people think, some weeks if not months are exhausting with shooting, press trips and, as any regular viewer can tell they both, especially Jack, try to talk to reps and get as much factual research to share with the viewers which times a lot and time and effort (unlike those Yuri and Jacob asshats). They said they’ll do it for another 1.5 years, 2 tops, and that was last fall or maybe late summer. Again, sad, but I totally get it. Hope they continue in some form even if only occasionally.

Corvettes are great cars, but they make as many as people want to buy, and the people who buy them are the types who never drive them, so there is never a shortage of clean low mileage examples. That’s why none of them ever hold their value, let alone appreciate other than what happens due to general economic inflation (rising tides lift all boats). That’s also what makes them the best choice for a track car. People who track Porsches just have too much $ to burn and aren’t interested in maximizing time on track (lower running costs = more tires/track days for the same $). If you want to track, get a corvette, but don’t buy one hoping it’s some classic that will be worth a crazy amount of $ some day.

C7 & C8 are my favorite designs.
@Hey_Blinkin Жыл бұрын
@@joeracer302 this is all true, but a counter argument is, this is the last of a generation. With the introduction of EV'S, ICE will become more scarce thus driving demand up. They make lots of these, but not really. The C7 was the second shortest generation, with the C6 and C4 being the longest. Speaking of, build quality in the C7 is heads and tails over all previous generations. Chevy states that and it was a reason they went to mid engine, the platform was maxed out. If you have a z oriented one, there are only roughly ten thousand of those total, in the whole generation (both the ZR1 and Z06 aren't much slower than the new C8 Z06 for twice the cost. Which will also drag the cost upward. Why pay for 2/10 faster car when you don't have to?). And finally, hold onto anything long enough and it's worth something. Look at the price of any C1-C3. Some go for as much as 150-200k, depending on the version , year, and condition. The values on these aren't falling either I still own one that is blue booking at the price I paid for it. COVID and supply chain issues have something to do with that but it's never stayed this high before for any previous model.

I have a C7 Z51 as my daily driver and I always take the top off whenever I can, because...why not? It's been a great daily with few exceptions: mileage has been great (for a V8) except if you're stuck at traffic lights for a while. And speed bumps... depending on how high they are... you might still scrape even after putting the car into Track mode with the stiffest suspension and taking the bump diagonally. I just scraped the other day. I have Michelin Pilot Alpin tires for the winter, which have been great. The car tends to get a little hot inside even in the colder months, but I have the windows partially open right through December, so it doesn't much matter. It really has been a great car and I can't imagine any replacements, except maybe the Camaro.

I am happy for him as well , keep in mind what he does for a living though , he can basically right off the entire cost of the car . He can right it off as equipmemnt for work as it creates content , he is self employed so it could be a write off that way as transportation . The mainteneance and fuel and all sorts of stuff can be written off and because of the well deserved popularity of his content by now it may very well be in his best interest to buy the more expensive current Z06 to the point that the car essentially pays for itself . That is one of the benefits of being self employed in general ( you do pay more of other taxes often , like social security ) and because he is a car content maker . NOT HATING ONE BIT , i am happy for him but I reckon many people who are employed or younger may not understand how that works and how much less expensive it is for somebody like him and as he does better it becomes in his interest tp buy a more expensive car to ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY . Im sure he probably owns real estate as well that is mortgaged which means ( especially early in the life of the mortgage he can write off nearly the entire payment because its almost all interest in the beginning ) . Being self employed has many benefits that one gets generally as a trade off for less security then working for a big corp that matches your taX payments for SSi and or contribute to your retirement in some way by matching what you put in and perhaps health or even life insurance and other perks . I know these content creators tend to WORK THEIR ASSES OFF and unlike a " job" taking vacations or even having the luxury to be sick or injured and down is not there as the game is about keeping a constant flow of content and with cars staying current . Jack IMO is smart having his partner on many levels even if the money gets split ( i think he was not one of the principles early on and became a bigger part of the channel) . He is kinda young and it may seem like a big achievment to buy a Z0-6 AND IT IS!!!!!! and he has 1. Put the work in 2. Taken the chance to make something like this in a HYPER COMPETETIVE space ( car reviews and content ) and the production value tends to be good ( which I believe is partially because the little fella has skills in editing and production perhaps as well as camera stuff ). They did go the route of making really good content which costs more $ and time and are among some of the best in the space being independentrs , so they assume a lot of risk and bet on themselves which is ballsy and as fun as it may look I do reckon they work quite hard and often have very long days as well as a fair amount of travel and ALL MANNER of biz managment stuff to contend with . AGAIN I am also pleased because both these guys are cool and you can tell they put toms of effort in AND I would also say they are some of the least corny in the space , although I wouldnt mind some content where they competed against each other racing and some challenges or adventures but thats not their "brand" and they have to pick a lane and they SHOULD STAY in it as its some of the most no nonsense and does have the appearence of less bias ev3n if the little guy has his predjudices that he changes sometimes AND I MOSTLY AGREE WITH HIS PRAGMATIC side when explaining who a car is for and why and not pulling too many punches which is hard when you want access as press . Thats a lot to say that his Z06 is going to cost him A LOT !!!!!! less just because of what he does compared to almost anybody else and HE DESERVES IT as a perk for the hard work and good job done. But if i were to judge his financial success I wouldnt use the car as a metric compared to other investments , some of which might be right offs as well with maybe and editing building on personal property or other stuff to help with more right offs for RE investments and I have no idea how much free stuff like tires and whatnot they might get ( which is perfectly fine by me if thats what they use already or only take products they like). Yeah , Considering the quality and following getting a Z06 is almost mandatory considering it is basically the craziest thing to come along in long while considering cost and that GM PULLED IT OFF and pulled down the pants of every car maker with performance cars . These new Zs should be a safe bet for what are generally depreciating assetts especially as cars like it get phased out , i imagime he might hold on to this one. Chhers

Having owned four Corvettes across four generations, I’ve never really felt you understood the Car, it’s history of engineering nor its heritage. The C7 is the most perfect rendition of this car in it’s almost 60 year history, and the majority of things that you qualify as faults are not even noticeable to your true Corvette-fan. In some respects I’m glad you’re getting rid of you GS; someone else will buy it and fall in love with it and appreciate it for the amazing machine that it is. Hopefully you’ll find that car that will do everything perfect for you.

😂😂😂 Jack dont need a dump truck full of copium. He is a track guy and calls a spade a spade. If your widdle Corvette feelings got hurt go take a Mydol get a maxipad. Its a fricking car not an identity. Maybe GM should fix the C7 Z06 overheating issue with the automatics? Or help is out with the dam wheel cracking issue or the bad magride controller programming! If I want to learn the history of Corvette I'll watch Everyday drivers documentary on it....again.

@@666cemetaryslut I definitely agree, Jonathan. I own a 50th Anniversary C5 convertible, but my favorite style is the C6. The C6 has a few more creases than the C5 and I think they enhance the looks of the C6. The C5 is a bit “too smooth” and the C7 has too many creases and bulges. That said, the C7 is still decent looking. To me, the C8 is ugly and has bad proportions. But looks are personal, so I realize some think the C8 is great. I’m just not one of them.

Great summary of the ownership experience. Bang on with the various maintenance items. I miss my GS. From Vancouver to LA road trips to bothering P cars at track days, it did it all shockingly well. I will be watching the used market in a few years hoping prices drop!

As I am literally penning my 1-year review of my c6 GS, so much echoes what you're saying here. Most of all (which was the main reason I didn't do a review earlier) like you my opinion of it was kind of a moving target for much if the first year. It gets better every time I drove it for much of this year. I really liked it when I bought it, but LOVE it now.

God this is a bittersweet moment with what is sure to be a future classic. And yet, the z06 you’ll be replacing this with is leagues above in the emotional aspect even if it gives up some of the feel and old school mechanical aspects of this car. You’re lucky to be where you are and I’m glad to see you’re enjoying these cars to the fullest. I’ve always thought the grand sports might be the best deal for track driving although I’m starting to wonder if even they’re getting excessive for anything off the street. I don’t have the budget for regular track driving (or a corvette newer than a C5 for that matter) so I appreciate a platform that gives pleasure on the street and where you can explore its capabilities without getting into trouble. So maybe a brute force corvette with a grunty engine and endless grip isn’t for me, but for that matter any recent corvette is likely excessive. Back when my friends and I bombed backroads in our Miatas I experienced what they could be on 200tw tires and even that was probably too much - taking “slow 35mph” marked sweepers at highways speeds is terrifying in an open top car. Hell, even taking test drives on those same roads in turbocharged sports sedans made me feel uneasy with how high the limits were. I’ve completely gone off tangent but this kind of thing and hearing the costs of replacing 335 size tires makes me appreciate how my favorite cheap sports cars can deliver joy on the road. I’d love to drive something with copious power and steamroller tires on the track but at the end of the day my favorite car experience is winding out peppy cars on twisty backroads at the limits of cheap sized tires. You say this car needs track driving to truly appreciate it and I can believe it. I think that’s why I’m leaning away from even the comparably pedestrian C5 as a fun car. I like the freedom of accessibility of enjoying myself on local roads. I absolutely loved my few and far between track and autocross experiences but to buy a car almost exclusively for its capability for those rare days is too luxurious for me. Oh, one last thing, thank you for noting that while the manual is only good choice for this grand sport, if you’re unable to use one the automatic is fine. It’s not a particularly pertinent choice to have to make in this age of decent automatics but from a car enthusiast with a disabled partner, it means a lot to hear that.

I owned a Corvette Stingray C7 Z51 and later replace it for a 6th gen Camaro SS. The Camaro SS would give you 95% of the same driver's involvement feeling without the looks or the higher cost of the Corvette, and if you want even more performance at the track you can opt for the SS1LE or ZL1.

I had a Z51 C7 and I loved the car, I traded it for a GT 350 and the cars could not be more different but both great and capable. The GT 350 is more raw and more engaging. I miss cruising on long trips in the Corvette it was great for the long winding roads. I do feel like the GT 350 is better on shorter turns and roads like Tail of the Dragon where you can keep the RPMs up. Great review, thanks!

I got a White 2019 C7 GS brand new in May of 2020 for 14k under MSRP because everyone was waiting for the C8’s and now they are selling for the MSRP price. It will be my forever car since it was my 66th birthday present and there will be no need for any other car. We love this car and it is not a daily driver here in New England. My daily drivers my whole life has always been pickups or vans.

About the LT1 and it’s reliability, I’ve done 3 track days this year alone in my 2018 Camaro SS and it’s been a great experience every time. Although the engine may lack character to some people, the LT1 has a very linear power and and therefore it’s always predictable when you’re accelerating out of a corner.

I also felt the same when I was trading my 5th gen Camaro ZL1, the Shelby did not had any torque feeling below 4000 rpm, it felt lifeless, instead I got a C7 Stingray Z51. It felt more powerful like my ZL1.

It's funny that he mentions essentially cross-shopping with a GT350. When I bought my GT350 I was also looking at the Grand Sport as Z06s were just a bit out of my price range for a non-daily-driven toy. The Grand Sport felt kinda boring as a street car and l am a once or twice a year track goer. The comparatively shorter gearing and more dramatic powertrain ultimately sold me on the GT350. The C7 is still a beautiful car, and likely would've gotten more looks than my glorified Mustang.

I have a C7 Grandsport set up exactly the same as jacks (18" apex wheels and R888R tires), Corsa x pipe, MGW shifter. I regularly crush GT350's at track days. Just sayin.

@@Miccio1 Don't doubt that for a second. I'm much more of a novice track driver, so all out track capability was less important let alone able to be determined. Fun factor was high for the GT350.
