Nice haul from one stop. I used to work at a auto repair shop several years ago. Thier was an elderly gentleman that would stop by once a week or so. He would pic up all our scrap rotors and what not. He drove an old beat up truck that would barely stay on the road. Then one day he stopped showing up. Figured something happened to the old fella. One day out od the blue he shows up driving a brand new truck towing a brand new trailer. He said that he saved all his scrap money and went on a cruise for a couple months. Paid cash for his new truck and trailer with a bunch left over. He said that he was saving up to take a year long vacation somewhere exotic.

And then the boss said I'm saving the rotors myself now?
@shadymaint14 ай бұрын
@jaimz33 they did start saving them. We were supposed to pallet them up and send them back to corporate. Quickly got out of hand and we quit doing it. The old guy started showing up again.

Back in the early 60's had a man down the street who was a scrapper. He walked around town pushing a wooden cart with large steel wheels. He let me help him strip plumbing and window weights from houses doomed to be torn down for the freeway (I-70) coming through. His bed was in the living room and the mattress had a large lump in the middle. They found him dead one day in his back yard. He'd been sorting lead pipe to sell. Rumor had it there was $14,000 in his mattress.

Some people would think that this is staged. It might be but I can tell you honestly it’s amazing what gets thrown out. I used to work for a conservation company. And we cleaned up park’s and took stuff to the landfill. On a couple occasions I saw a Hiram walker compactor truck come in and dump its load. I told the guys I was there with to follow me. We went over and I told them to look for metal container’s. they were full of unopened whiskey bottles. And other liquor that they carry. Still had the seal’s on them. I ended up with a dozen bottles. 😁👍

To those of you who are negative, he likes the challenge of this type of work and the luck of the draw. He has a healthy body and a very astute mind. To the really rude people, I bet you don't even come close to what he makes a year because of his hard work ethic. Google says it is around $99,000 to $122,000 a year from KZbin alone. So chair surf all you want but be nice, please, life is tough enough now.
