ANALYSIS: Comparison to GW videos: - 0:09 Citadel miniature = uses Citadel paints. - 0:10 Lord Duncan now has multiple camera angles for his intro speech. Dramatic lighting, good speech. - 0:33 New title animation, music and a cool finished model shot+title card. - 0:47 The painting style is like the GW style videos: Undercoat, basecoat, shade etc. - 0:53 Obviously, a change of background. Lighting is good. Watermark in bottom left, logo t-shirt. - 1:00 He mentions The Army Painter alternatives for Citadel products. Paint is listed with a graphic. - 1:28 Palette is now not Citadel, but just a ceramic plate (no wet palette either). Palette cam is now in a zenithal position. - 2:00 Transitions and sounds like GW videos. - 2:24 The Army Painter brush alternative mentioned. - 2:38 Twist brush classic Duncan tip. - 3:09 GREEN transition (colour from watermark+logo) - 3:53 BLUE transition (colour from watermark+logo) - 4:43 TWO THIN COATS - 4:47 ORANGE transition (colour from watermark+logo) - 5:19 Citadel brush mention. - 5:42 You can paint wash straight from the pot, not necessarily apply it to the palette. - 6:30 Still have to wait an hour for a wash to dry. - 8:06 Two thin coats - 9:06 Same style example as GW videos: Introduce areas to be painted+paints used. - 15:00 Edge highlighting. - 15:39 Flipped model. - 20:34 Mentions transfers and basing, does not show process. - 20:42 Music and a transition from unpainted to painted miniature. (Before/after shots) - 20:56 Outro is now speech, standing, multiple camera angles (mirrored from the intro speech) - 21:09 No longer are the bullet points for key learnings listed, but Duncan talks about key topics. - 21:27 Website link, copyright. - Camera quality, speech content and sound quality are all good as with the GW videos. - Editing is very similar to the old GW videos. - The KZbin description box has an intro written in third person singular (he) about Duncan, maintaining a professional distance to the viewer - yet, it switches to first person plural (our, us) later and adresses the viewer directly (you), implying a more personal tone. The links in the description are for the personal social media accounts of Duncan. Listed also are all the paints used. - KZbin comments are open, and Duncan (and his collaborator, Roger) now reply to comments from viewers in first person plural (we). They adress the viewer directly in second person singular/plural in the comments, implying a personal tone of voice. Sometimes, even names are mentioned when adressing commenters. They now take feedback and suggestions from commenters. Smileys are used by @Duncan Rhodes Painting Academy.
