That was a cracking video YD ... I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the poetic inclusion.

I'm curious about the bronze fixture on the memorial. How much does it weigh and how was it placed? The city is bigger than it looks too. Those little white blocks look like 12 to 14 story buildings if I'm right. The pacing is very well done, giving ample time to look at everything and I appreciate the focus on plaques and the apparent great care taken to keep the camera steady. That last point, I'm sure others are going definitely agree with! All I have to do is pause if I want to read those plaques, which I did. Another very well done video. All of these places are beautiful, to say the least. There's so much less noise than I'm used to enduring where I'm at too, here outside of Washington D.C. These are like an escape for me. Thanks much. It's hard to believe that I never found these before now.

I am sorry I have not been able to find any answers to your questions, Duane. I don't know how much the bronze brazier weighs. How it was placed there - I would guess with a crane but I really don't know. Construction is not my thing and it's hard to find out anything about how the memorial was actually constructed on the internet. However, I have discovered there was a competition to find a designer for the war memorial and the winner was a Thomas Braddock of Wimbledon. The granite blocks that support the bronze brazier are made out of Cornish granite - it was apparently cheaper at the time than the more local Aberdeen granite. A real Scottish decision, that one!

@@theyellowdukesscotland499 Hmm. Interesting that records would be so scarce..but, you have given me a few things to go off of. Construction actually is my business and metal work at that. I may be able to find out more about this from my union (Sheet Metal Workers Local #100) because they actually do keep records as far back as 1888 when it was formed. If I do, I will certainly let you know. Thanks for the quick response!
