For those of you wondering, the average film takes about two months to film. Dune wrapped after 4 months... that's 122 days. More than enough time for an epic movie like this especially considering it's only half of the first book! There are still months of post-production to go!

I was surprised how easily I tapped into Dune and how much I loved it (I was considerably older than 16, but not a fan of sci-fi), but I had a hell of a time getting through Dune Messiah. Some great ideas in that novel, but I found it an absolute slog and felt like nothing much happened, other than a bunch of crusty old people talking incessantly, until the final chapter. I gave up after that book, but plan to attempt the entire original trilogy again after seeing the Dune: Part 1.

Has there been casting for the Emperor or for Princess Irulan?
@zannaifacedancer59155 жыл бұрын
At least I haven't heard anything about it. I doubt Irulan appears in the first movie. Her presence is really not necessary. If she appeared in the previous adaptations imo it was jus at the whim of the filmmakers and the fans, since they spoil her too much lol and because the first book wasn't going to be Split. But I don't think Irulan's presence adds anything relevant to the plot right now. Perhaps she will appear in the next film, when they continue with the second half of the novel, or why not, during the TV series. She was also Bene Gesserit after all. She was rather bad, but a sister anyway.

@@zannaifacedancer5915 I think it would be a good decision to expand her role though. Her character SHOULD be relevant. It always confused me how she would disappear from the story.

Ah yes, like they did in the SciFi miniseries. I actually grew up watching it and loved the way Irulan was portrayed, so I was very disappointed when I picked up the books for the first time. (Disappointed just because of Irulan, of course). Now she is one of my least favorite characters, just the opposite of what most fans feel, I'm aware. If they expanded her role it would have to be different from the miniseries. Not saying that she should disappear, but imo her presence is not necessary from the beginning. They probably will expand her role as you say, and I hope they do so if they want her to appear. I feel ashamed when I watch Virginia's monologue and see that the only important thing for the audience was her beauty. Personally I wouldn't like them to make Irulan appear just to include a pretty face.

When I saw "Troubling news for Dune Sisterhood" I thought immediately - did they hire D&D?! Then I remembered those two are now plaguing Star Wars :) Also I posted this before watching video. Please let it not be D&D, pleaseeee EDIT: OK, so not quite that bad, but still a lying conman. Still, could be worse, and could still be great!

Well I was watching it as a joke since halfway through S05, so I think I survived rather fine. But those two having their hands on Dune would make me jump off of a bridge.

They obviously looked far and wide to find someone who would be able to flesh out the details of the Zensunnis and the other BG religions and totally didn't just see him pimping his ego and made up degree on TV... Sheesh.

I seriosuly dont get how anyone in this day and age actually think that they can lie like that without getting caught. It was dumb to lie about 30 years ago, but doing it in the age of information. Yeah, I cant say I picture the guy being too bright then. Pitty such a conman is involved.
@Quotheraving5 жыл бұрын
@@AreEia But he does get away with it. His Dune Sisterhood casting and recent appearances on Russel Brand's show and any number of mainstream TV channels as an 'expert' are testament to this. Truth is that most people are lazy and complacent when it comes to fact checking and will give the benefit of the doubt if someone is telling them a pleasant lie..

Hopefully, Brian Herbert will redeem himself with the Bene Gesserit series...he has exploited his father's work to no end and has created dozens of just disgustingly horrible books. May Shai Hulud curse his water.

@@planetoftheatheists6858 dunno brother, i'm picky as hell when it comes to art, but the machine crusade trilogy was (at least for my fat ass) epic as fuck, now that i think of it, it was this trilogy that made me turn 180 from sword & sorcery/fantasy to just crave pure sf mayhem. guess it's gonna be my guilty pleasure :D don't get me wrong though i don't hold those books nowhere near the original dune saga. dune is a temple of thought and philosophy, something i have never found in any form of art since that. have a glorious life.

I am pretty confident Dune is going to turn out great though. There really haven't been any signs that would make me worry. As far as a 40k show is concerned, you are very much right in worrying :D Stories about crazed zealots infused with a lot of fascist ideology certainly overwhelms a lot of people these days. Chances of the studio keeping the creators on a very short leash, effectively abandoning what makes 40ks so fascinating to appease a politically correct audience are very high.
