that makes two of us. i signed up for beta when the first allowed the signs up and i still have not received an email to test the game yet. i know these games are vastly different. but as someone that beta tested swtor 3 times before it came out and elder scrolls online twice again before its launch. im surprised i have not received an invite yet to beta test dune awakening. but i am patient. i just want to beta test it so that it can end up being the best and most clean released game possible

I love that we get to explore one of the paths Paul has seen, and that we get to explore new adventures and stories, and not "just" play the events taking place in already existing Dune litterature. I'd like to see expedition missions 'off-world' where you commit a certain amount of Spice to bribe the spacing guild for passage and to account for your own Spice addiction, then you visit and raid factories or inner sanctums of the various Houses Major to unlock rare schematics. I do not expect them to design all the worlds entirely, but perhaps the Palace of Kaitain, Castle Caladan, Geidi Prime, Wallach 4 and the underground realm of House Vernius on Ix. This way, players in end-game could get a change of scenery beyond the hidden outposts with there own contained biomes. It would be great to travel to advance skills with the Bene Gesserit on Wallach 4 or for a Mentat to train further in robotics on Ix. These off-world raids, could allow Mentat & Bene Gesserit trained characters to go on assassination missions, or Mentat & Trooper types to sabotage factories and so forth. Also hoping that outer-clothing worn in the towns and cities will allow players to design a character that matches their path and profession.

They's stated they're into the idea of doing off-world later, but don't know how to do it yet. I've had similar thoughts as you, and I think this makes the most sense and is the most doable. I wanna raid Harkonnen spice depots on Giedi Prime.

Yes, I think they could make this end-game type content, even DLC territory in order to retain players who possibly get a little bored of the desert world of Arrakis (I know it's going to be impressive, but still I worry regarding player retention). Off-world missions seem to offer the best option for expanding content, furthering skills & career paths, while representing more of the worlds from Herbert's works. More than anything, I want this game to be a big success and retain it's player base past the first couple of months and I am concerned that as impressive as it may be upon release, some players will get bored quickly of the game-loop of - fight over Spice, collect schematics, wait for storm to clear and repeat. If we can go off world and interact with NPCs who give us story missions or side-quests to further our profession and obtain the rarest schematics possible (Essentially Raid/Assassination missions) then it will hopefully become that welcome break from the desert world. Just like you, I would like to enter the inner-sanctums of Geidi Prime and sabotage a factory of the Harkonnen, or wander Castle Caladan's harbours, looking out to sea and perhaps accepting a secret mission to obtain data to be used against their enemies, or delving deep below into the most secret levels of House Vernius to obtain rare schematics to build powerful robotics to tip the balance in the battles on Arrakis. I am a rabid Dune and Frank Herbert fan. I've read all of his works including the entire Dune series multiple times. And I am almost always a canon/novel purist who cannot stand deviations from the source material. For instance, I have major issues with some of Denis Villeneuve's changes in his adaptation of his Dune part two. However, that being said, I am feeling very good with the changes to the story with Awakenings. In order to make a game wherein the player can have any meaningful affect upon the universe at large, you'd have to either make it a prequel or an alternate timeline. Given that they're open about this change, I am feeling quite optimistic. The game looks great. And this alternate timeline angle fits in nicely with the concept of Paul's trinocluar vision. I don't think the Fremen will actually be exterminated. In previous videos about the game they've mentioned the Fremen. Seems more likely that it will be thought that they have been wiped out; but will still be hiding in the deep desert. This seems to me that the developers have a respect for Frank Herbert's vision, and that perhaps for this reason they've opted to go with this major change. So as to not step all over the established canon. I remain locked in anticipation of this game's release.
