How can every scene in this movie look and sound so good?!

a combination of passion and skill that goes unruined by non-studio interference

Too bad the story is a complete disaster and a deep corruption of the original masterwork.

I love how you get so little of him in this scene. Just the silhouette. Most other directors would have this as an establishing shot, but then follow that up with a closeup (similar to what we get with Yueh). I'd say the defining characteristic of Villeneuve's work is subtlety and restraint. Things are a lot more interesting when they aren't immediately clear, when the details are easily missed

The Emperor better say, "bring me that floating fat man, the Baron."
@SuperNovaJinckUFO2 жыл бұрын
Nah, that's a cheesy line. And the Emperor sucked ass as a character in the Lynch film (they made him too sympathetic, as if he's just caught up over his head in all the bullshit)
@sl600rt2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperNovaJinckUFO he sort of is. The emperor just wanted the Atredies eliminated. While unaware of all the plots around him for the throne.
@SuperNovaJinckUFO2 жыл бұрын
@@sl600rt The way he's characterized in the book, he's able to handle plots for the throne very well. He basically makes the Baron his bitch the entire time (ironically the Baron is the more sympathetic of the two villains in the book). Obviously Paul defeats him in the end, but he's a much more competent ruler/politician than the Baron or Leto.

Really gives a vibe of the legions of Mordor marching to war. And considering the Harkonnens, that isn't all that far off from the truth.

I swear you can *almost* hear the Orc marching chant at the end.

What I find strange is that later on, the Baron doesn't seem to recognize at first who Yueh really is. Or maybe he's just pretending.
@codussigma2 жыл бұрын
i take it as him forgetting him when he is no longer useful. with his purpose served in ensuring the Atredies downfall, his existence is now unimportant. like a tool that has no further function
@costco_pizza2 ай бұрын
@@codussigma That's why I find it strange why Dr. Yueh would even betray house Atreides like that when he should have been smart enough to know the Baron wouldn't keep his end of the deal.

He’s ridiculously fat so he needs to have a anti grav generator to move around. Plus it adds a fear and authority factor to him.

He looks fat because his body is actually filled with Helium, so he can fly
@EXMachina.2 жыл бұрын
He is so fat that he uses suspenders attached into his body to hover, he is able to walk sometimes but he's too lazy and heavy, in this movie he looks lighter and tame compared to how he is described in the book.

Strange, from 0:00 - 0:02 you see the Baron in the middle with his soldiers to both sides, then right afterwards he is on the very edge with no soldiers on the opposite side.

I think its just an illusion. I think he's still in the middle.

@@RobbyBabes Yep, if you pause and look closely you can definitely see that he's in the middle and there are people behind him. He's just that much taller, since he's floating.
