I still haven't played yet, but after watching Critical role and some friends doing their own sessions, I got into DNDBeyond to make a character. The first character race art that really drew me in was the Kalashtar. I haven't found a lot out there about them so I really appreciate this video extra :) Thank you brothers

I actually like the idea of a quori spirit getting passed on only to one of the kalashtar's children, so that there really are only 66 at a time.

Kalashtar abilities have changed a bit since the end of 2019, heads up for anybody here in 2021 haha the history and background of this race is the best I've heard in a video so far. Excellent!

37:24 I completely agree, psionics are such a big part of being a Kalashtar that I'm honestly a bit angry they haven't made a proper Psionic class yet. The sorcerer subclass is cool, but theres too much mucus and tentacles; I'm talking about a REAL Psionic class with it's own subclasses and Int or Wis as the spellcasting ability. There was already a Psionic class in 3.5 so it would just be a matter of adapting it to 5e, wouldn't it? There is Mystic, but apparently theres a lot of problems with it and still needs a lot of work...

i don't think any new classes will be added to 5e, the artificer wasn't hugely popular, and the mystic is so disliked they may be afraid to try anything psionic. i do agree a psionics class, possibly based on 3.5 version would be fun, but unlikely with the Aberrant mind sorcerer and the Psi warrior already in the game

I'm creating a Kalashtar Barbarian, and your cast has helped me so much! I wanted to see how to tie the rage into the class and I found that the struggle with the Quori spirit triggers the rage. I love your videos❤

Created a death domain cleric that was kalashtar, devoted to Wee Jas (Lawful Neutral). Her whole reason for the death domain is to work with the dead and help lost spirits find their way to a peaceful afterlife, making deals with the spirits so she can practice necromancy with their consent (Requirement of wee jas is to be lawful about necromancy). I think this fits the whole path of light but id love a second opinion.

One way of thinking about the Quori spirit aspect of kalashtar - hivemind no, but maybe if you say subconscious-ONLY hivemind. And there are 67 lineages, so it's not for the whole race anyway. My more common explanation is think of the Quori as a puzzle. Each kalashtar has one puzzle piece.

I guess Quori and Kalashtar should be compared to venom in terms of symbiotic otherworldly relationship there is also a case for some Dune Other Memory type dynamic. A friend of mine wanted to play a character similar to a Bene Gesserit, so I made her a Kalashtar Aberrant Mind Sorcerer.

Where can you find all the 66 Quori names? The Ebberon book only lists 14. I don't mind making up one for myself (i'd prefer that actually), but I wouldn't want to step outside of set boundries if that is not an option... Though in the end the DM can make this call I suppose :D

The eberron setting (its a whole bunch of books) in dnd 3.5e is the main basis for most of the lore but the wayfinders guide to eberron and rising from the war are the basis for the 5e mechanics.
