A great first episode on Theros! Since it'll probably come up again, the human cities are called "Poleis" (pronounced "Pohl-Eyes") with each individual city being a "Polis" (pronounced "Pohl-iss").

Theros inspired me to make a homebrew ancient world setting too! Stuff like the collosus was just too cool to not build a story around. And the cave networks w/ textiles sound very similar to the old Fremen sietches of the Dune series.

I'm much more of a Magic player than D&D, so I can't wait for yall to delve into these settings, and hopefully more Magic settings get released. Related to Nyx and it's ability to manifest belief, there was a plotline where a being named Ashiok, who specializes in creating nightmares, attempted to create a God of Nightmares by giving everyone in a particular city/polis the same nightmare.

Cacophony really pushed the belief theme to it's extreme/inevitable conclusion. It's a showcase example, to lead into the swap of Khrusor's (spear of Heliod) owner to Elspeth via belief of her wielding the real one. Then later, Calix's spark being necessary/ignited (per belief), for him to be able to follow Elspeth.

Also, while not having as much depth as the recent Theros book, they have released free supplements for other Magic settings under the name Plane Shift, the specific planes being Innistrad, Dominaria, Ixalan, Kaladesh, Amonkhet, and Zendikar. Magic recently released a new Zendikar set and later this year there will be a new Innistrad set.

I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the dungeoncast with roaring fury and pride! Greetings again milords! So today we venture to a brand new realm to learn of strange new peoples and creatures? Ill have to be careful I don't get lost in the excitement of gaining new knowledge, lest I forget that I still have duties here to attend to. I love receiving boons of knowledge, but a paladin mustn't shirk his duties. The leonins seem to be an interesting people though not one im sure we would be able to coexist with. Possible, but not a certainty. They are good aligned, and lawful, but perhaps a bit to egotistical, maybe even some of them could be vainglorious? Well, I suppose it matters little. After all they live in an entirely separate plane of reality from us here in the lands of knowledge and laughter. I bid thee farewell until next week milords. sincerely, your paladin dorian, The leonin are pretty cool, I like them. Very detailed, and an njoyable concept for a race. Though I do find it surprising that their society is more matriarchal. Thematically speaking youd thing they'd lean more towards the exceptional beefy, strong, lion king with a luxurious mane. Thinking of a lion race reminds me of an odd idea I once had for a fantasy race. I wanted to make a lion race related to minotaurs. I imagined a big lion man with horns amd hooves. I never detailed that concept though, and it was one of my more half baked ideas. Im not sure that one was any good, or if I got to lost in my own musings and overactive imagination as I to often do and just made something lame. Anyway im going off on a side tangent, not important. The swiftclaws strangely enough remind me of clan brujah from vampire the masquerade. I dont know if anyone here is at all knowledgeable about the world of darkness setting, but there are a bunch of different clans, bloodlines of vampires that are all descended from cain (yes cain from the bible) who was the first vampire. Anyway while in the modern day the brujah are mostly the punk rebel archetypes who are hot blooded and are more than willing to fight for their rights, stick it to the man etc. hundreds of years ago clan brujah were made up of great warriors, and also wise amd intelligent scholars, creating a cool dichotomy there. Similar to how the swiftclaws are great hunters, but they also have free time to dedicate to their more educational pursuits. That is if im understanding it correctly. Oh I can't wait to see your guys finished custom beholder, thats gonna be dope as fuck. I hope somebody will make art work of it, because it sounds like its going to be crazy. When you guys were talking about the leonins roars, I already had an idea for some homebrew. Rather than a fear effect, what if you lean into the ferocity of a lions roar and givevits roar some kind of knock back effect? Like the roar has so much force and power behind it, it can knock you on your rear end. This idea is inspired by tigrex from monster. I dont know if either of you play the mh games, but tigrex is known for being hyper aggressive and having powerful roars, so powerful that unlike the roars of other monsters, tigrex's roar will actually damage those that are to close to it. In monster hunter world however the damaging roar was exclusive to its subspecies brute tigrex. Anyway im getting into another side tangent while I nerd out over something that possibly nobody cares about. Have a good day guys, always good to get another episode. 🙂

The relationship between lions and lioness are absolutely fascinating and WAY more complex then most media shows. Lioness have been found to do most of the actual active hunting and been found to kill of certain males that were causing problems for the pride. Male lions meanwhile are still pretty formidable, nearly all spending about a year as a wandering exile before finding and entering or taking over a existing pride or I believe rarer forming a new one. There is a LOT of stuff going on in the animal kingdom man.
@DragonGunzDorian4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewdiaz3529 ok I knew lionesses did the hunting (and that males watch the children) but I didn't know females will kill off males. Thank you for the info my dude.

Theros is a wonderfully beautiful and deep setting. It's one of the best realized settings in Magic: the Gathering. And yes, Theros is EFFING GEORGEOUS! Oh, and the gods of Theros run from kinda benevolent if you don't piss them off to outright, full bastardry. The stories of Heliod (the Zeus analogue you mentioned) is not as much of a sexual predator, but he definitely is a murderous, self-righteous bastard that can ABSOLUTELY be used as a villain.
@derrickhaggard4 жыл бұрын
Yeah hit the nail on the head with that description especially Heliod. Heliod is a self-righteous murderous scumbag.
@prophetisaiah084 жыл бұрын
@@derrickhaggard Interestingly, they took Zeus's lightning bolts and gave them to another god entirely; one that seems to be at least somewhat more benevolent - Keranos.
@derrickhaggard4 жыл бұрын
@@prophetisaiah08 Yeah I noticed that Keranos the deity who essentially is a Storm Giant personality wise friendly unless pissed off got the Lightning Bolts while Heliod the deity based off Zeus who is a self-righteous scumbag didn't.
@prophetisaiah084 жыл бұрын
@@derrickhaggard There was a deliberate effort to make Heliod into a mono-W villain, something that they had done only rarely before that point. The dude is the absolute personification of Lawful Evil, which makes sense if he has the main personality traits and "king of the gods" position that Zeus has. But lightning bolts don't fit in white's part of the colour pie, they're distinctly red.

The whole not trusting, and being super arrogant thing is partially true basically according to the lore while yes most Leonin are distrustful of others races which was understandable given what they went through and yes they're just as arrogant as the Triton not all Leonin are super-arrogant xenophobes some Leonine heroes, and heroines while yes cocky aren't super-arrogant and they're not xenophobic but still cautious to the point where it's going to take a while to earn his/her trust but it's possible to gain his/her trust.
