As someone who speaks Dutch and knows a lot of German, the town names in this campaign are somewhat funny to hear. All the names have actual meanings, and I'm not sure even Monty always fully realises this. And if he does, I'm very curious as to what the hell is going on in some of these places... ;) A bit late, but some examples for those interested: We started in tierhaven. Tierhaven is not completely German, since haven is not a German word. But in German the word hafen does exist, and it sounds very similar. So if you write it as tierhafen, it means "animal harbour". But this doesn't make sense since tierhaven is in the middle of the forest. But as written now it means "animal haven" as a mix of German and English, with tier meaning animal and haven as haven. So in that way it might make sense. Schaffburg means "castle of creation". But there's no castle in schaffburg from what we're told... :) And if you write it with one f, as schafburg, it means "sheep castle" ... :D And now they're heading to todesfeld, which should be pronounced approximately as toad-ess-felt, not toddsfelt as they pronounce it now. And todesfeld literally means "deathfield" or "field of the dead". Which sounds incredibly ominous if it's supposed to be just a regular town. :) And they are going to drannmund afterwards eventually, which literally means "drann mouth" or "mouth of the drann", which makes sense since it's a city at the mouth of the river drann... Achtungwald means "attention forest" or "attention wood". Sounds a bit strange even in English. And then some others: Geldstad literally means "city of money" or "moneycity". But Monty said it's where all the gold mints are in this world so it makes sense. Altbrucke means "old bridge". Leuchten means "to light" or "lighting". Ansben simply means "otherwise". Tonsberg means "tone mountain" Landhelm means "land helmet" or "helmet of the land" with land in the sense of a country or nation. Glothfen means "glowmarsh", with fen coming from the old German Fenna (like the old English fenn). If Monty consciously chose all these names with a reason, I'm very curious to see what goes on in all these places! ;)

I think this is one of my favourite episodes so far. There is so much going on just under the surface, with hints at the secrets all three characters keep - both upfront as well as non-verbally. I absolutely love your roleplay here! Also, I think it's cool to see the characters get drawn into the conflicts and complications of the wider world again. I'm really interested to see where this party might end up in the tug-of-war that is Werstermar compared to the party in Dungeons of Drakkenheim. I have an inkling it might not be the same place as Drakkenforce ended up in... Btw: Sorry for spamming comments. I might just have binged through all your live-play content, which might have really captured my interest and imagination... But thats just conjecture! ;) Anyway, sorry for the slew of comments again, but expect more, because I have thoughts to get of my chest now that I have more of the whole picture. Kelly, Jill, and Joe, well done with each of your roleplay! Your characters are very enjoyable in many ways. If I was going to leave a piece of constructive criticism, I would love more consistency from the players characters. For example, they rake a noble over the coals for weapon dealing, hate on Elyrians for fighting, but don't care when the amythyst academy sells weapons or fights with pretty squabbles, etc. Sometimes seems like their characters are having bleedover from Veo, Pluto, and Sebastian's issues rather than staying consistent with their own character. But that's all! Otherwise, your entire series on KZbin is amazing and definitely one of my all time favorites!! Keep it up!

Totally makes sense from Wrath and Wilhelm. Being a rogue and a warlock, and having backgrounds that reinforce a hesitation to trust foreigners. But I feel Rudy needs some backstory to explain that. I think it should have gone like this, Monty, "Wrath, describe your horse." Joe, "Worried... very worried." "Suckling Duck"? Surely you mean Suckling Duck-billed Platypus? "Some kind of Awful Cabbage", this sounds bigger than ducks, it sounds positively perpendicular.

Hi love both the series but i have a worldbuilding question. My friends want me to DM a game based on your setting, my issue is one of them wants to be a cleric. The falling fire and flame religions seem to worship a godless religion/ more of a principle/divine fire. even that doesn't seem to have any stated doctrine/tenets of behaviour what i mean is no gods have ever been mentioned that i remember as a source of divine power.(apart from the angels that empower paladins) i take it this is intentional or am i missing something. just having issues reconciling with the standard cleric archetypes and the player question of what their god reperesents,or who they are, and is potentialy active as an actual being in the world. thx in advance
@DungeonDudes4 жыл бұрын
There quick answer is that the sacred fire believes all gods are demons. They worship the light, one could be a cleric of the light if they want, really you could do any subclass and make it work as just divine spells pulled from the sacred flame. Some clerics worship older religions, more nature and elemental, raw and ancient, if the cleric wanted to simply be “of an older faith” they again can do anything. We also leave it open ended for character input. I once designed a dwarf forge cleric who worshiped his Dwarven god of the forge and went to Drakkenheim to find the meteoric iron. Be open about concepts. Hope this helped.
@garynicolson51924 жыл бұрын
@@DungeonDudes Thx for thr reply, all gods are demons. I can go with that, or moreso all extraplanar's dangerous so the world is shut off from the normal cosmology, which the meteor broke. Clerics can worship any god, just that there distant, ie like our world, you don't find them walking down the street ala avatars. Maybe Ao, whos not big on any stated morality as long as the universe keeps existing "I don't care what you believe in as long as its something" thx again
@DungeonDudes4 жыл бұрын
@@garynicolson5192 Yeah, as a more in-depth answer -- in the world of Drakkenheim, gods do not physically manifest in the world. Although their followers believe such events have occurred, there is no conclusive evidence gods personally interfere in mortal affairs or even speak directly with mortals at all. Instead, the inspired words of prophets, oracles, and heroes laid the foundations for the world’s religions. Today, there are hundreds of faiths with many different beliefs, doctrines, and practices. Clerics, druids, and paladins learn to cast spells by channeling the supernatural forces of light and shadow which underscore the cosmos. The Church of the Sacred Flame worships this divine light itself -- they believe the light holds back the darkness, less shadows consume the world. Thus, for them, it is the duty for all mortals to Keep the Flame, Follow the Light, and Spread the Flame. Other religions have different beliefs about the balance between light and shadow. In the region of the world where our campaign occurs, there are only minor shrines and temples in remote areas to these old gods, however. Violating one’s religious tenets does not cause a cleric, druid, or paladin to lose their powers. However, a crisis of faith brought on by some discordant change in behaviour and morality can cause an individual to lose these powers. There are other powerful entities who call themselves gods, including demon lords and other outsiders. These entities can manifest in the world and do speak to their followers (often). Such entities make pacts with warlocks, but cannot grant divine power to clerics, druids, or paladins.

Paladin no, your oath is what gives and drives your magical abilities. As for a Cleric that is a bit tricky. If I read correctly divine magic in Monty’s world is more an expression of their own moral code and willpower within their own set way. There are gods that exemplify those ideals but do not grant the power that divine casters wield.
