99.9% of all rpgs use DnD as a template. heck ff11 used EQ as sa template, which used ultima online as a template, which used DnD as a template. Elder Scrolls morrowind used DnD 3E ruleset when laying the foundation of the game. And ESO: morrowind hired 2 former 2E scenario writers to write the lore, making sure it matched up as a prequal to TES3 Morrowind. (which was well done imo, playing ESO morrowind felt like tes3 morrowind just smaller to a degree, but more of a frontier)

OMG I love the FFXIVxDnD Homebrew Reddit! I've been a fan of it for years, ever since it started up, and have helped a little bit in terms of balancing and playtesting (particularly the RDM section). It's a fantastic companion piece, and have always wanted to play the material in a game sometime. I'm looking forward to seeing how this all goes down!
