There were times where musicians knew at least two south Indian languages. And Sanskrit ! I am convinced that with technology , access to learning resources is high ... Current day musicians must spend time on language learning besides voice culture etc etc etc...

Superb concept ... Something which I have been thinking about a lot ... The syntax is a must but that's only for a greater cause ... It's about the feel, the devotion which the original composer has gone through ... Something which we get to feel in every rendition of MS Amma

So much love for Tamil and still Brahmins are thought to be pro Hindi.... :) ... What a paradox
@aniruddharajmohan56794 жыл бұрын
We are pro any language that beautifully praises the Bhagawan. All have their own unique beauty, whether it is Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, Sanskrit or any other language. Language is just a means of communication, something that should bring us together and closer. instead the politicians of my state(Tamil Nadu) use it as an excuse to create conflict and discrimination to separate us as a people, meanwhile their children go to international schools where they learn Hindi, French, English and so on.
@bharathmurali7123 жыл бұрын
It's very simple , their life revolves around North Indian/sanskrit narrative, ie.. they like Bruhadeeshwaram more than Peruvidayar.(original)

@@bharathmurali712 dint follow the last part about brihadeshwar
@bharathmurali7123 жыл бұрын
@@podangadubukus what I mean is , Brahmins follow North Indian narrative in Tamil Language as they know tamil and are Tamilians ie.. I mean the Thanjavur Shiva is a tamil ancestor for local Tamil people on the contrary to brahmins as the same shiva for brahmins is a god from north indian mountain Kailash. Hence there is a disconnect ie.. Tamil Brahmins are people who belive in a North Indian narrative with Tamil as their mother tongue and idly sambar as their food. When people say Brahmins are Pro - hindi it is because of their cultural orientation / narrative is the same as North Indians / hindi / sanskrit rather than Tamil.
@podangadubukus3 жыл бұрын
@@bharathmurali712 it’s not the simple ... Tamil iyers are devout murugan, iyyapan, amman, followers and Iyengar’s are Andal and all the versions of perumal followers which are all very very distinctively Tamil and no connection to north India. Also Tamil Brahmins personally fail to associate with north Indians and their culture..

Will share her this video hopefully she trusts what I said was true.

Important to invoke the context as it does gets conveyed in the form of singer's involvement during the rendition of the kriti and also for a rasika(listener) as not only does it move you instantaneously but also transports you immediately into the story as if you are watching from behind the scenes.

As an American 'westerner' I really struggle sometimes to truly understand Classical Carnatic music, this is a great insight into two great musicians that are explaining their approach and opinions about various topics from music, and particularly Carnatic music. '...a 'real' Carnatic musician should know 1,500 songs by heart (memorized)...' 😲😳😳 Edit: the Lord Krishna sliding across the ground whilst eating a great ball of melting butter is burned into my mind now, and your mention of M.S. Subulakshmi singing, haunting my ear. 😁 ☀️😎☀️🇺🇸
