Hi, Yes that sounds like a great idea! I was going to put an emptying hatch on it but hadn't got around to it yet, that could be the next video🙂. the PVC was from a plastic sheet supplier, if you want some names and numbers let me know and il pass some on to you. If I was ever to make another cyclone it would be out of polypropylene, its less brittle and you could cold roll the cone, the only downside is you can't get transparent polypropylene. Thank you for the message 👍

@@allkraftdesign6120 I think the best option for cone is polycarbonate, 2-3mm thick will be enough. It's toughest of all plastics and also transparent

@@allkraftdesign6120 Is the material PVC or acrylic? For welding part, is the stick has to be the same material as the cyclone box? What degree of the temperature for the welding? Thank you very much!
@allkraftdesign6120
@allkraftdesign6120 Жыл бұрын
Hi, Yes material is PVC. The welding stick is also PVC. All materials are the same, temperature for welding= 250°C - 280°C. If you have leister welding torch position dial between 4-5. Thanks for the message👍.. hope that's helpful

great looking build, nicely done :) but it looks like a right tricky bit of effort to get that pvc sheet into a cone, I might have never welded plastic but I have some experience heat-forming it, if you made the cone from poly-carbonate instead, it heat forms at a low enough temperature to just put the sheet in a domestic oven, then get it out all floppy and wrap it around your cone, easy (just put it in the oven on a sheet of silicone topped with baking paper so it doesn't get marked by the metal shelf). Or if you want PVC, why not buy a 6'' PVC pipe, then cut a wedge out and heat it up to form it into a cone, at least then the shape is half way there to start with, it might be easier? that second point is just a theory so it might not work in real life...
@eddiegallacher2652
@eddiegallacher2652 10 ай бұрын
I used an orange traffic cone and a clear plastic dinner plate. Lots of silicone on the pvc pipe used to connect to the cone. It worked very well. I'm not sure a square bin is as good as a circular one.

Hi 👋 thank you for the comment! I didnt just make it look tricky it actually was tricky, but only because I didn't have the appropriate tools for the job.. but definitely wouldn't want to put people off with my poor effort! Heat forming PVC is super easy if you have the correct gas blow torch to get the heat into the plastic, it becomes very pliable and usually stays that way long enough to do the work that needs to be done. Apologies for my very poor effort. Thanks again for the comment!

Cutting pitched cone for cyclonic action On flat sheet draw large radius, draw small radius Calculate dimensions in Excel or any spreadsheet. First calculate flare angle Use result to calculate Large CUT Radius & Small CUT Radius Then calculate degrees of sweep AKA rotation angle Once cut will form a perfect cone per your dimensions provided. Flare angle =ATAN(0.5*(TOP DIA - BOTTOM DIA)/HEIGHT) Large CUT Radius = Top DIA /(2*SIN(Flare Angle)) Small CUT Radius =Bottom DIA/(2*SIN(Flare Angle)) Rotation Angle in Degrees =360*SIN(Flare Angle)

It looks fabulous, so kudos for that…but you have explained almost nothing! Most folk won’t have your fancy air welder…so show us with a soldering iron and hot air gun; and what is that plastic filler stick? You say nothing about choice of cone angle, diameter or height. You CAN’T make it as big as you like…if you expect it to be efficient. Too big and the airflow gets lazy with poor centrifuge, too small stifles flow and the whirling wall of debris risks getting pulled into the rising centre flow. We need to know your decision choice. I was surprised how thick that sheeting was!
@allkraftdesign6120
@allkraftdesign6120 Жыл бұрын
Hi , apologies for the lack of information! The cone sizes are 170mm top 70mm bottom 300mm Height Both pipes were 60mm diameter The weld rod is 3 core PVC which is triangular in shape, you can also get a 3mm diameter rod and both can be transparent to suit the material if desired. The welding gun I use is just a hot air gun with a nozzle on the end, not sure about a soldering iron it might work I've never tried that method but the end result would probably look hideous. The sheet is thick but pvc is sometimes brittle, If thinner material was to be used on the catch box at the bottom would require lots of stiffening to bulk it up with the negative pressure inside, but you could definitely use thinner material for the cone if you wanted, you could also use a different material like polypropylene or Polyethylene they are both less brittle & more malleable but they're not available transparent. Hope that's helpful.
