Man, that first GnR record is hard rock perfection!! When you look at how hard it was for anyone to come up and make it back then, I mean, literally from the street on up, its hard to respect these instant youtube and tiktok so called stars....its nothing like the blood sweat and tears these guys had to go through. Ill never forget the first time I heard appetite for destruction....it was a hard rock wow moment for sure. There was nothing like it at the time....while most other rock bands were singing about girls, party's, and fluff....these guys tackled deep street life with drug addiction and paranoia....it was incredibly raw and honest. Its hard to explain it unless you were around in the late 80s...Such an exciting time to be around... This is some rare footage man, love it.

I came into this docu from a KZbin recommendation, not having a clue what it was about other than a vaguely GnR sounding title. I watched it in it's entirety from start to finish and it is excellent. Izzy is the forgotten member after all these years and it is great to me that this goes a long way to redress that inbalance. Loved it, thank you for all your work and I will definitely recommend this to friends who are fans of GnR but younger than me and don't know the craft and artistry of the virtuoso Izzy Stradlin.

I love Izzy. As a hardcore teenaged GNR fan, and I remember making fun of Izzy with my friends as we would look at the different pictures of GNR (band posters on our walls or album art). It was mostly because he looked different than the rest of the band, nothing else. As I grew up, I realized that Izzy was the heart and soul of GNR. And as I have studied his solo material over the years, I just love him more and more. Anyway.. this was a great documentary. Thank you

Right on....Great vid.....I was front row center at the Avalon club in Chicago for Izzy's first solo gig....Was one of the best shows ever.......After the show he gave me a few pics (which still had the G'N'R' logo on them)....And then I got the set list from the stage.......There was not one second of that show that wasn't completely on fire.....That band was so great.....Will never forget it.....

Well made documentary this given how elusive Izzy is and hard to find anything with him rarely being involved in much in the public eye. I got turned on to this from listening to the 'Appetite For Distortion' podcast in which you were on talking about this passion project of yours and I take my hat off to you for making this documentary that only the die hard GNR fans would fully appreciate. I've always felt Izzy was the most underrated GNR member in the band. It's no coincidence that they pretty much fell apart after he left. Steven was just the start but once Izzy left, I never really felt like the band were the same anymore. I still love the band to this day and everything they've done since but it doesn't have that organic soul Steven Adler & Izzy contributed to their sound.

This is a fantastic look into all the mystique that surrounds Izzy , he was definately the musical Glue that held that band together . Gilby did a fine job of taking over duties for the live shows but once Izzy left the band the collective fire the original 5 guys danced around makin guns&roses music was now all but extinguished. It took those 5 guys to create the magical band that cut us all across the heart in 1987. Let's just all thank God we got what we got from them in thier original form because appetite, lies. And illusions 1and 2 was and still is the Nastiest, most honest and pure effort of true Rock and Roll we will probably ever see or hear ever again.

I'm here before it gets taken down. Awesome documentary. I can't believe that Izzy recorded so many more albums in such a short space of time in a digital format, without a label. And GNR made only 4 albums. That blows my mind. He seems so much happier to live a simple life. No need for massive fame and fortune and all the bullshit that goes with it.

‘No need for all the fame and fortune , and all the bullshit that goes with it?’ - So you’re telling us that Izzy Stradlin hitch-hiked all the way from Indiana to California, settling in Los Angeles, to fulfil his childhood dream of selling smack on the streets of Hollywood, content with living amongst the filth and squalor, whilst NEVER losing sight of ultimate ambition in life - to remain unsuccessful and poverty-stricken? - Do you HONESTLY believe that Izzy Stradlin was NOT interested in fame and fortune? Izzy wanted the recognition (fame) and the money (fortune) just as much as any other professional songwriter and musician working hard in the music business (his chosen profession) - I’m grateful for Izzy’s songwriting contributions, but apart from that, Izzy contributed absolutely fuck all to the band! What did Izzy give US, the fans? Absolutely nothing! On stage? Izzy was dull! Off stage? Izzy didn’t exactly contribute to promoting the band! Can you imagine if Axl, Duff, Slash, Steven, Gilby, and Matt Sorum were as enthusiastic as Izzy Stradlin? There wouldn’t have been a Guns N’ Roses! Thank god for the others hard work and sheer relentless contributions. Izzy refused to give us his time and effort. He walked out of the band, BUT ONLY WHEN HE WAS A MULTI-MILLIONAIRE! And I didn’t see Slash and Duff following the ‘genius’ out of the band? I didn’t see them begging the main ‘songwriter’ to start a band with them. I didn’t see them begging Izzy to write ALL their songs. Truth is... Izzy didn’t have any qualms with being in their EARLY videos, when they were NOT yet multi-millionaires. I don’t remember Izzy refusing to participate in the filming of ‘Jungle’, Sweet Child, Paradise City... and I don’t remember Izzy being against releasing the hit single ‘Patience ‘ because it was a ballad, and therefore, the song didn’t represent the true essence of Guns N’ Roses!

The final clip...Izzy were you going to say something there?..'No' Well that sums it up very much! This is a really good documentary, does anyone know what the song is at 17:47 & 57:03 ? EDIT: 17:47 is a song titled "BOX" from Izzy's acoustic album FIRE and 57:03 is a song titled "DROVE" from Izzy's album CONCRETE I'll also note that another great solo IZZY track is G.B from Izzy's album CONCRETE, You can clearly hear the GnR groove on these song's. Just replace the signing with Axl and add a solo part for slash. No wonder GnR's "New" singles sound like trash. Izzy was the main key

40:01 the great Jimmy Ashhurst,of the unsung Los Angeles band The Broken Homes! The band was in Back To The Future, right before Marty McFly auditions in Battle of the Bands.Shuffle It All has Jimmy all over it.Check out Broken Homes,Straight Line Through Time, and Wing&A Prayer:)Great albums in the vein of Lone Justice,Del-Lords,and X.And besides that, they had a song on the Weird Science soundtrack!Much Respect Jimmy&Happy Landings,Izzy:)

Great doc. Hilarious around the 1:18:00 mark where Sorum is talking about seeing Izzy on stage during that first Athens show and he said it “felt like the old days.” Dude, you played with him for about 6 months in total and it was only a year and a half before this interview took place!!!

No mention of his input on what became velvet revolver, I heard in an interview with slash that basically the velvet album was gnr 's next album. The songs were written by Duff, Slash, Matt and Izzy. Great video Izzy was cowrote most of the hits of gnr's first few albums

Thanks for stopping by and your comment. There was a couple of things that i couldn't work in to the video unfortunately. The goal was to create a cohesive timeline using only available material. The VR era and the era after the Ju Ju Hounds album (but before 117 degrees) era just didn't make sense as i couldn't find more material for it. I need the man himself lol Hope you enjoyed the video.

Really Enjoyed this Great Stuff: Izzy has written some Absolute Banging Tunes , I loved The First JuJu Hounds Records What a Great Band that was with Rick Richards on Guitar and the late great Ian McKlagan from the Faces on keyboards I even think The late great Nicky Hopkins played on the first record I loved it and saw them at the Town and Country Club in London Great Show,Izzy is just one of those Cats that always seems to pull it out the bag when it comes to writing songs he just has that nak of coming up with it and that’s a real gift to us all… G,n,R we’re never the same when he Bolted 🌞⭐️🙏🌞⭐️

yes you take the best half+ songs of the ju ju’s album and a 1/3 of “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere “and what ever rose had come up with and that’s somewhat of what the next g n’r album might of been ☝🏻
