The biggest problem is that the government has jacked the price of diesel up to $5+ a gallon and its not the better alternative anymore. I haven’t hardly drove my diesel truck in 2 years.

I did the math and here in sweden the diesel is 7.32usd a gallon, converted from sek per liter

Same with Golf 4, in USA 1.9 TDI is very rare Engine but in europe (Exactly Poland) 3/5 Golfs 4 is diesel

Here in poland (Europe) you can get OM606 Turbo for $1000 with working 4G-Tronic

found my whole car 900 bucks changed the flow plus and intake gasket and did an oil change started right up

Would be interesting to see if any of your subscribers have any info or tips on importing these OM606's. I know they are about half the price or less in Europe compared to what some people are demanding on this side of the pond. Bet if someone were to fill a shipping container with these in Europe and then send it over here they could make a good profit. At 450 lbs per motor you could get at least 80 motors in the container. Buy them in Europe for $1000k each ( which I bet it not out of line), sell them here for $2500 (which is a price they will sell at almost instantly) and that leaves you with $120k. You'll have to pay shipping and duties on that, but can't imagine it would be more than $25k or so. So, who's gonna do it. Message me when I can call for a $2500 OM606. I've got dibs on the one with the lowest miles.

1000$? Goooood luck. For that you most probably get a piece of sht, cracked head, 200-250K+ miles etc., but not much else anymore. Especially not in such volumes. Even good bare blocks might already be more than a grand. Ones suitable as worry free replacement engine or rebuilt ones are more along the lines of 3.5-5.5K. Prices increased tremendously, everything cheap is usually something you don't want. And importing them adds quite some tax and customs, right? If it was that easy it would've been done already. But unfortunately it's not, can't even manage to find a good basis for a build that won't blow my budget up right here in good old Germany. I'll probably have to settle for a 603, a 604/605 or whatnot. But then I might just keep the ARL 1.9. Really sucks, should've been faster. Wanted one for well over a decade and saw quite a few first hand low milage ones in pristine condition for dirt cheap. Nice to really nice 300td go for 10-30K, those times of cheap old iron are gone.

​@@heinzhaupthaar5590I agree it's definitely not happening. I'm in Germany and I have found a couple in Spain for 1200 euros but that's still not 1000 USD. Also no clue on miles or how well they run. It's cheaper to buy a complete lower mile 606 car in the UK than a low mile 606 engine in Germany haha.

There about 2k plus in Europe now but if you want a built one “Diesel Pump UK” do built motors and billet parts for them such clean stuff manifolds, injection kits etc definitely worth the money

Not really, it says more about the cost of petrol in the USA over the years that nobody needed to buy a diesel
