Ik heb de andere nummers van andere artiesten nog niet geluisterd maar ik denk dat Joost 100% in de finale komt des noods dat hij hem wint. Super leuke video trouwens

Er zijn dit jaar best veel leuke nummers vind ik. En dan zijn er nog landen die hun nummers niet bekend hebben gemaakt (waaronder Zweden en IJsland die het vaak goed doen). De finale halen we hier sowieso mee. Ik durf zelfs wel te stellen dat we in de top 10 gaan eindigen, maar met een sterk deelnemersveld als dit ook winnen? Het zou wel heel mooi zijn, maar denk dat de diepere gedachte achter het nummer, die het voor ons Nederlanders juist extra goed maakt, nog weleens aan (te) veel mensen in andere landen voorbij kan gaan waardoor ze er niet of minder op stemmen.

@@Kwint. I mean, I think it's fair if you don't speak either of them. I can understand some Dutch here and there and I've heard a lot of Dutch people understand some German, too. I like to refer to the Dutch as my "cousins", while other Germans say Dutch is like "drunk German" I've heard Dutchies like to say German is "drunk Dutch" too, hahaha. I mean, we have similar roots but imo the Netherlands are way more beautiful.

Ik ben van dezelfde generatie als jouw moeder en ik vind dit nummer echt geweldig en ontroerend, wat een geweldige kerel ❤ er zitten zoveel knappe dingetjes in dit nummer, bijv de verwijzing naar Stromea, Papaoute, papa waar ben je. no mummy there, i am a mum and just turned 50 just yet and partied in the late 80s to trance and in the 90s to hardcore, so this is nostalgic. butvi am also an orphan like him at 1 and 17 so the the lyrics about fleeing and the end made me cry. i instantly knew this behaviour from an orphan. we are mostly the funniest to hide our pain.

The story (briefly) is: his parents died when he was 12-13. His father always said: the world has no borders. So he said: then I want to be at the Eurovision Song Contest one day. After the death of his parents, he started searching for the meaning of life (and relief of his pain) by traveling, but never actually found it there. He gave people money (psychologists?) to help him, but it didn't work. Until he realized that he still had time and therefore still had options to realize his dreams. After all, the world has no borders right? And so he did. The burning house represents losing but also moving on, in a positive way. Burning your bridges: no longer controlled by pain and sadness, but focused on your dreams. Without limitations/borders.

Das beste was ich seit Jahren gehört habe beim ESC. Er singt in Niederländisch und bleibt sich selber treu. Das Lied hat Humor und auch einen Ernsten Teil. Das Lied hat eine Botschaft an uns Europäer, das wir alle Freiheiten haben und hingehen können wo wir hin wollen und wenn wir nicht hingehen können, können wir uns es erträumen, auch wenn wir manchmal daran zweifeln. Deine Mutter dürfte meine Generation sein und sie wird mir zustimmen das der ESC schon lange nicht mehr das ist, was es einmal war. Es geht schon lange nicht mehr um die Musik. Es geht nur noch um wie bekomme ich meine Nachbarn auf die eins, oder es geht darum die mag ich nicht, die bekommen nichts und unterstützt das Land was es in Moment nicht gut geht wegen Krieg. Meistens weiß man schon vorher welche Länder wohin ihre Punkte geben. Ich muss zugeben ich habe noch nie mit abgestimmt, aber dieses mal werde ich abstimmen. 12 Punkte aus Deutschland und eigentlich müsste er noch mal 12 Punkte bekommen, weil er in Niederländisch singt. Auch wenn er nicht gewinnen sollte, er wird hoffentlich vielen den Geist von Europa zurück geben. Wir werden einen schönen Abend haben dankt ihm und ein großes Fest feiern. Lieben Grüße aus Berlin

It is a true work of art, it is filled with so many hidden gems that go unnoticed, especially for those who aren't Dutch. But in short, all the musical transitions go from the old-school house, dance, and EDM to Gabber and New Kids "Hey Jonguh" and the Red Bull outfit maxed it(the referrals are obvious imho but I'm Dutch). It is a work of art! And I'm proud of him too. But I think the backstory is so important to really understand it that might be the only downside, perhaps he will have something up his sleeve?! Perhaps he will have an English version for the EVSC?! Can't wait to see it live on stage at the EVSC :)

Heb je een eurootje voor mij doet me steeds denken aan Theo Maassen waar hij als zwerver aan het bedelen is ( KZbin ). Ik vind dit nummer van Joost best wel heel goed. Ben nu een man van 50. Eurovision had NOTHING to do with EU. Its all the countries in Europe that are attending, not only the EU. Eurovision is way older than the EU.
