@@ralphklunder Dedicated role. The Dutch marines are considered the first in a dedicated amphibious assault role with permanent stationing on a ship. Ofcourse there are more examples of soldiers jumping of a ship to fight on land but those troops had also their garrison somewhere on land. The ship was just the transport. I agree with what you say to some extent but the U.K. has not completely destroyed its naval shipbuilding capability but has significantly reduced its capability due to lack of investment and making skilled shipbuilders in the past redundant because its cheaper to build elsewhere. BAE Systems and Babcock still build great naval ships in the U.K. like, the type 26/31 and don’t forget the two large aircraft carriers and Britains nuclear submarines. Including the new Dreadnought class. More ships are in the pipeline as well, including the type 83 which is a large naval ship. The problem for the U.K., there are a lot of old shipyards left disused around the country which could be brought back into service if the money is there to reinvest in new infrastructure and train up more skilled jobs to build them. It will be a gradual rise for the Royal Navy instead of a heroic rise to former glory.

War on the continent creates a reason to buff up the military, especially because Trump showed we cannot rely on the US. Military spending has doubled since 2015 and should go up with another couple billion a year to meet the 2% norm.

Originally the future air defender was a joint Dutch-German program, but it was cancelled (or rather halted) due to multiple differences. From what I read on wikipedia they are still investigating if they can come to a new agreement with Germany or potentially other European countries to participate in developing these ships.

About those ruSSian ships going to Cuba. Perhaps someone should start a go fund me account for Ukraine to purchase fishing boats and/or seaplane(s) so Ukraine can sit in waiting for the ruSSian ships to enter/leave Cuba into international waters. I imagine the fishing boats/seaplanes acting like the mother ship for a bunch or rubber boats. Once Ukraine gets word the ruSSian ships are approaching international waters, Ukraine launches a bunch of manned rubber boats (to lower radar footprint) with several of those wonderfully effective Ukrainian sea drones in various strategic places to discreetly sit and wait. When the ruSSian ships are in range, the rubber boats launch the swarms of sea drones and...

Those Russian ships are no threat to Ukraine for as long as Turkey keeps the Bosporus closed to warships. Ukraine has been careful about attacking targets that do not pose a threat or whose destruction does not offer a tactical advantage, and for good reason.

My child has a new teacher. She's the no-nonsense type and doesn't cowtow to arrogant cliques. There's no "*whiny voice* Everyone should be the same *whiny voice* Every kid should be able to do the same things" in her classroom. One girl was being bullied by the rest of the class, so she picked three popular kids and over the course of a few weeks she kept picking on them and ridiculing them. The bullying quickly stopped and that girl can now go to school in safety. We're very happy with such a good teacher 😊

It is a disgrace that the Dutch Navy doesn't have at least 2 (preferably 4) Hospital ships that can be deployed anywhere in the World when there are disasters or wars.
@SienjorQueso5 ай бұрын
Bruh we barely have 4 seperately functioning hospitals in our country, there’s been so many budget cuts to both the healthcare sector and our defence budget that what you’re asking isn’t feasible or realistic at all at this time maybe after this fleet replacement ( but probably not we are much too small a country)
@marcsetmais75985 ай бұрын
Well, I’ve got news for you: the Dutch navy already has three ships with a very serious hospital function on board: the Karel Doorman, Rotterdam and Johan de Wit. They can be deployed to give aid anywhere in the world. No navy has ships anymore that are only hospital ships, that’s not serious in this modern times. The hospital capacity is more than enough for a navy the size of the Dutch navy. There are other priorities.

The French submarines was chosen for a single reason: our corrupt prime minister (our worst prime minister ever, which is why the Dutch dislike him, life only got worse because of him) pressured for the French subs to get support from Macron for him to become NATO secretary general. He wants to get this post but in fact destroyed the Dutch military with huge cuts and never did abide to the NATO 2% norm. He never served in the military. It would be a shame if he gets this post. The LPD's are not that old at all and are still capable enough to be replaced. They can transport LCU's and smaller landingcraft. You can move them further out to conduct landing operations. They are also capable to transport army equipment like Leopard 2 A6, CV9035 and Pzh2000 and bring them to shore with LCU's. This gives the marines support with real firepower.
