Hey everyone! It's me HawkeyeG with another video for you. This video is a series of universal tips and tricks for the Dwarfs in Total War: Warhammer III. The idea is to nail down what I think are the most important things for every player to know regardless of what faction or difficulty they are playing on.
These ideas come from my own campaign experiences as well as small things I've learned from others who play and stream as well. Some of these tips are more obvious for those familiar with the game, but others are much more specific to the Dwarfs. My hope is that by taking the time to go through some of the more niche and unknown aspects of the race that it saves other people the time and trouble of having to search far and wide to find out for themselves!
As always thanks for watching, have a great day, and we'll see you on the next one!

One note on research rate: archivist can also be equipped on your lords and on top of that all of generic dwarven lords have a skill in the end of their blue line that boosts the research for another 10% So ideally you want to boost your lord recruit rank to 12 and then recruit a lot of them to get that skill, equip an archivist and disband them after that so they'll passively keep the 20% boost but won't be killed in a battle and lose it.

I think in game 3, pure melee builds are way more viable. Dwarfs don't seem like the ideal melee faction because they don't have much for flanking or speed but they do have quite a good variety of sturdy melee infantry and their great weapon infantry, Slayers, or Hammerers can really pack a punch. Most of their rune magic buffs them purely in melee or debuffs the enemy. In particular the Rune of Speed can turn anything into a flanker and turn Slayers into slow warhounds at the end of a battle and it's great because it's the first spell your runesmith knows. Grombrindal is particularly strong for pure melee due to the speed bonus he can give to his army, but he can also do cool things to Rangers or Great Weapon Quarrelers with that.

I always do the blue line first. Also. The replenishment is just too important. I always get the underway interception just to occasionally snag free wins against skaven and greenskins hoping around the mountains. 4th point in the 1st section is +1 untainted. Then grab all 3 points in replenishment and 4th point goes to ambush defense to get inquiring mind. After blue line go red line for whatever you will use. With the forge items dwarf units and heroes are tanky enough to put off the yellow line stat buffs until level 30+. I also totally agree with you about taking oath gold on almost every battle. I would take the growth only until your 1st province is secured. Because getting to tier 4 as fast as possible so you can unlock the op elite units and start increasing hero caps is the biggest early power spike the dwarfs can get. Some little min max tricks that don't require too much effort is to look for lords and heroes with Ancestral Blood Grungni. Those 5% research bonuses add up. With Lords you can disband them afterwards and they still provide the research bonus when sitting in the lord pool. If you eventually get to the point you can recruit lords at level 12. Then you can recruit a lord give them inquiring mind and disband them and basically buy 10% research rate for a few hundred minerals. As an added bonus with enough heros with the Ancestral blood grungni trait, you can get free building upgrades in the region they are in.

A (probably not worth it but it's a thing) Dwarf tip: send Gotrek to fight and lose lords you want to confederate. This will give their faction leader Unbreakable which they will still have after confederation and it will give you a huge amount of diplomatic work to do to get to that point. Works better if you have the Recruit Defeated Legendary Lords mod.

Toying around with the archivars is really bothersome though, especially if you have to stop your research after every turn. I honestly stopped doing that, but I play Ungrim in most cases, he gets archivars rarely anyway. One tipp I have that's very important especially for Belegar and maybe Ungrim is this: You can boost your money with diplomacy at the start. Belegar starts in a really rough situation, so what I usually do is offering.. uhm.. that faction that usually gets wiped out by Sartosa and/or Skaven right at the beginning.. that I join their war for some money. Then I conquer settlements the pirates took and sell them back to that faction. You have to deal with the pirates anyway, so why not getting some money for dealing with them before they declare war on you? Once they are dealt with I repeat the same with the skaven and the ogres on the other side of the mountains. With Ungrim I usually check out which factions are fighting who'm, then I offer to join their wars for money as well.. especially wars against small factions that are no real threat to me. Too avoid too many grudges to chase I usually sell a lot of territory to my allies, Kislev for example gets lots of territory in the north-west from me every time. I try doing that on every direction I can and expand in directions where I can't do that.. while supporting my allies with small armies here and there when needed. You don't have to chase too many grudges if you have buffer zones between you and the enemies. It also gives you some time to regroup if one of your allies collapses and you have to secure your territory 🙂

Completely agree on the archivist / student problem. I would love to see a different system but I don't have a better one in mind. Joining wars for money is a great solution too! I believe you're thinking of Tilea for Belegar's campaign. In general having allies and using them as a buffer + offering them territory you don't want is a very strong tool in TW:WH3. One I probably still don't utilize enough!
