Along the lines of the Duane Johnson stuff, I work in commercial production and athletes are the worst at showing up on time. Literally you can't give them a start and end time. If you tell them they will be there from 1-5pm. They will show up at 3:30 and then leave at 5pm because that's what time you said they could leave. You have to tell them "we need you on set for 5 hours." So regardless of when they show up you have them for 5 hours.

All this 'Rock' drama reminds me of when Arnold Schwarzenegger 'passed the reins' to Dwayne in "The Rundown". Like he's the next action star. Johnson has too much ego to make a good hero. In Predator, Arnold got his ass kicked. He knew his character shouldn't be able to beat up the physically superior alien, meaning he'd have to out smart the creature. Arnold put the story before his ego, and the movie is still a classic.

It's the perfect example of why you should never buy into your own hype. He really thought he could walk into WB and just produce a ton of movies centered around him. Then it fell through after months of hyping it up and getting Henry Cavill back and I think that really fucked with his ego. I will say that he seems ahead of the curve on most celebrities since there aren't any stories of him being an alcoholic or drug addict yet.

Btw, for anyone who cares, the Hellboy news from this episode has since been revised. The AI concept art was not for the new Hellboy film, but a different demonic horror film from the same producer. The person who wrote the article thought he was talking about Hellboy and got them mixed up. The Hellboy movie director has come out and confirmed this.

At least Hemsworth understands why that movie and its characterisation of Thor was a complete mess and so many hated it. Ragnarok worked because it was the perfect mix of metal epic and technicolour fever dream. Love & Thunder was just non stop dead memes, unfunny flanderization and WAY too much uncontrolled Taika Waititi Brand quirkiness, all cashing HORRIBLY with the dark n serious performance from Christian Bale which frankly was the only good part of the movie.

I don’t fault Hollywood types for some of their harmless peccadillos and personal histories. They work really hard under a lot of pressure and make mistakes like the rest of us, but there’s something about Johnson; you can see it in that focus group tested 💩 eating grin, the contracts he signs that demand he never gets beaten in a fight, the meddling with Black Adam and its ending. He is so clearly an absolute prick. He can do damage control all he likes, eventually the mask will slip completely and he’ll be remembered like the puffed up JO he really is.

I don't like Wesley Snipes (though I do like his version of Blade). However, I understand his reaction to what was happening with Blade: Trinity. It wasn't his movie. It was a movie designed to launch other characters, which they shouldn't have tried to do because it sucked anyway. And I've never heard of him behaving that way on any other movie. Wow, that Jim Caviezel stuff is horrendous. I knew he'd gone full QAnon in recent years, did not know he was reprehensible amid that show. Especially weird as it had somewhat okay representation for LGBTQ and BIPOC people. Almost surprised they didn't kill his character off and replace him, especially as they killed off his co-lead (who I guess was the focus of the "I hate this interracial relationship" comment?). I'd actually liked him in the series, even if he was somewhat bland and the other characters were better.

A ”fun” fact regarding Marlon Brando’s support of Native Americans: It seems that the supposedly Native American woman he sent to appear at the Oscars in his place wasn’t a real Native American. After her death, her family members have come out and revealed that their family does not have any native ancestry and that they are of Mexican background instead. And it seems that after this there was some research done on her family’s ancestry and it was indeed discovered that there was no evidence that Sacheen Littlefeather had any native ancestry. So the major activist for Native American rights, who Brando supported, was just appropriating Native American culture. Of course it’s unlikely that Brando would have known that and I wonder how he would have felt about it, since he was apparently very much against any kind of racism or mistreatment of racial minorities.
