I think either the sound recordists did a very bad job here or the musicians were really having a bad day-as if they couldn’t hear each other well enough. Cohesion and musicality seem to really be lacking in many of the movements, most obviously in the opening Coro. A real shame in any case-this is an excellent ensemble.

Herreweghe takes the first movement a little fast. And at least one horn is often off-key in its solos. But there isn't really anything more negative to say about the first movement. The rhythmic interplay in particular is good. I don't know what you heard there. There are completely different inconsistencies in showpiece recordings by renowned ensembles!
