Love the videos on the ace. I got a 2001. It's hard to find folks that will work on them. I do all the maintenance on mine . It was given to me and I'm a novice motorcycle maintenance guy. You video helped a lot thank you. Nice bike.

Purchasing a '03 Shadow from my buddy in a few weeks, all these videos are AWESOME and helping me learn before I get it. I'm a 4 wheel guy and do ALL fluids and brakes on any new car I buy. So this bike is getting a full tune up and service when she comes home. Again thanks for the vids. A little more lighting in the work area would be better also. Thanks again and keep them coming.!!!

+Tank91 Thanks for the comments and congratulations on the bike! I'm hoping that my future vids will turn out better...I just got a gopro as a gift and also some better lights, so everything go forward should be better quality and have better lighting. Thanks again!

Dennis, thanks straight forward and easy to understand. After seeing this no rider of these bikes should have an excuse for a rear drum brake that is not adjusted correctly.

Thanks, just had new tires put on and didn't want to take the bike back to the Honda dealer. They would not service my bike because it was too old and they didn't have a mechanic who knew how to work on it and they said they didn't have the tools needed. Big dealer in Tifton GA and I believe they mostly just sell and work on 4 wheelers. I had a buddy to service the bike and he suggested new tires. Ordered from dealer and had them mount them. First try was front tire on backwards. They argued but after I insisted they mounted it properly. I've had it home for a couple weeks and went out for a ride today. No rear brakes. thanks to your video I will soon have brakes. My buddy was unable to do much with the carbs and I need to get the bike to someplace that knows how to sync the 4 carbs. I always in the past took my bike into a dealer but now no one in South GA or North FL wants to work on old bikes.

Thanks for watching and I'm glad this vid helped! I agree, it is harder to find anybody that knows how to work on older bikes. I've got to tear into mine soon and adjust the valves. When I do, I'll probably go thru the carbs etc....if so, I'll be sure to make a video. There's a shop in McDonough GA that should know how to do your job, but that's a long from Tifton.

Hi Denis, great video as i just picked up a Shadow 750, but i really like how you use the proper terminology for the individual parts of the linkage between the front brake pedal to the rod and the barrel connector and finally the nut. also describing the marks that can be used to determine the brake shoe usage. so i will add you to my subscribed list for sure and check out your other videos. thanks.

Hi Denniss, very informative, I've just had the rear wheel of my black widow for cleaning, I needed to know which way round the spacer needed to be on the brake drum side as it fell out during wheel removal, looking at your videos showed me that I refitted it the correct way, flange to the swing arm. 🤗

Appreciate your videos. Simple, detailed, to the point. Question - What Brand Running boards are those? I like them better than mu Cobra Boards. Is that a STOCK brake pedal?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 8 жыл бұрын
+Mike Kirk Hi Mike, thanks for the question! The running board are MC Enterprises boards and the brake pedal is stock. I like these boards because they are hinged at the mount points, so when I'm in a deep lean , they'll still scrub the road, but they'll ease up until I straighten back up. I've looked at one of those larger brake pedal pad covers before, but can't bring myself to spend $40 on one! :)

I have a quick question if that’s ok. After starting and letting it run for a minute. I turned it off then rechecked level. No reading . But after it sits a few seconds it’s topped up. Should I add a bit more or no.?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, thanks for watching! Are you talking about the engine oil? Make sure the bike is level and upright when you check it. If it is reading properly on the dipstick, after setting for a few minutes, it should be fine.

Hey Dennis how do you adjust the pedal itself?
@dwcoffey
@dwcoffey 8 жыл бұрын
Hey Andrew...thanks for watching and for your question. You can adjust the height of the pedal. If you look at the aft end of the foot brake pedal, there is an ear that rests on a small bolt. The bolt is threaded into the pedal mount and has a 10mm head. There will be a locknut on the bolt as well. Loosen the locknut, then loosen the bolt to lower the pedal or tighten the bolt to raise the pedal height. Be sure to tighten the locknut back down when finished, otherwise the height adjusting bolt will vibrate loose.
