i totally agree i played on all those kits and PDP is still the one with the best tone all the drummers are there always get mainstream drums like pearl and tama you know some dont sound good as the PDP maple

it's funny! PDP Concept is SO good that many players (with high budgets) are looking at the Performance and Collecters series and have second thoughts. These kits are amazing. I have the 7 piece. Best drum set I've ever had.

Jonathan, For what it's worth, before the "Concept" series came to be, I purchased the PDP X7 maple 7 piece kit and I gotta tell you, I love the sound and playabilityy of this set. These drums are very easy to tune, and they stay in tune longer than my older Sonor and Tama kits do. Had this kit for two years now and I couldn't be happier. Regards

Bought a pdp cm7 in walnut finish like 5 yrs ago.. still the best set I've personally got behind and played. The solid feeling, the beautiful warm tone.. 100% satisfied to this day. If you're considering getting a pdp cm kit, let me just say; you will Not be disappointed.

Thanks for choosing the Concept Series! Sorry about the buzz on your tom and snare. Best call is took check all tension rods for tightness and then going forward check to see of the screws that attach the lug casings, throw off and butt plate are completely secure. Hope this works!

Just got two concept series sets a six piece walnut maple, and seven piece charcoal fade birch. All i can say is wow. Thanks DW you have made me a very happy artist.

The Concept Series comes with a bass drum mount for the bass drum. Cobus' kit actually has the mount still in the bass drum, he just uses a rack system and takes the double tom holder out. Normal people are our favorites. :)

I've had my pdp limited black oyster sparkle kit now for 6 months just amazed at the quality.Undrilled bass drum,all maple shell etc.Sold my Pearl Masters for these because of the sound.Very versatile tuned high great for Jazz,tuned low for Rock style no problem.Good job DW

Absolutely! You will need to drill your shell to have it accommodate the 3 Speed Butt Plate though. The 3 Speed has a hole pattern of 2 inches wide.

Great feedback! Yes heads are definitely a preference thing for every drummer. We have had people love the stock heads of the Concept Series and then other people change the heads and have that go well also. We like hearing either types of feedback on this type of forum for the fact of helping new Concept customer with drum head inquiries.

The stock heads truly make the drums sound great..if and when I would like to replace them, is the Evans clear g14 comparable? Or are they simply just clear ambassadors? I personally feel like they have a higher mil thickness than clear ambassadors. Maybe like clear ambassador X if it was such a thing...but I guess lemme know! Lol just bought a used $500 concept maple 7 piece in perfect condition and already want to sell my $4100 pearl masters series drumkit.

Well here you go! Birch sound qualities lean more towards attack and a quick decay. Birch shells a favored for the the drummer who does not want any extra over tones. Maple is more of a warmer sounding shell with more natural sustain. We hope this helps your decision! We like both! :)

These, as you can see at the end of the video, are advertised as professional drums, so you really can't go wrong with them!!! I have heard one in person and they REALLY sound great!

These drum kits are amazing! I just bought a Maple 7 Piece and it sounds freaking amazing! I mean, DW is the best drum brand ever! I mean, it´s humble of them to make a great sounding, great looking kit, at such an amazing price! The bass drum is punchy, the snare has a sound that I can´t describe, the toms are all full of tone and the mounting system is brilliant just like the MAG Throw-Off which is amazingly quiet and the colors are beautiful! I bought the Pearlescent White one and it is amazing, it has such an awesome finish! Best drum set I have ever owned! I had owned two drum kits before I bought this one and it is amazing! The difference in sound is incredible! Thanks +dw drums :)

I just received this set yesterday! I got the red to black sparkle, it's beautiful! I have Remo clear vintage emperors on the toms, Remo coated ambassador on the snare, and a Remo powerstroke pro on the bass. The sound is amazing! I'm happy with the purchase! Great job DW!

They only come with the tom mount installed in the bass drum. You can choose to not play the kit with the double tom holder and still mount your toms on stands. You will still have the mount for where the tom holder goes into the bass drum. Hope this works for you!

Maple shells will have a rounder tone with a long decay where as Birch shells have a strong attack with a shorter decay. More people are playing Maple these days but Birch has been a standard is some recording applications for years now. We hope this helps!

Your biggest concern are the L-Arms for your Gibraltar rack. The tom brackets for the PDP drums are a 10.5 diameter. If Gibralter carries a tom arm and a clamp that will accept this size tom arm you are good to go or you can contact your local authorized dealer for our 10.5 L-arms(DWSMTA105) and that will work also!

We do have a 20 inch bass drum that comes in a 4 piece shell pack. The rest of the shell pack consists of a 9x12, 12x14 floor tom and a 5.5x14 snare.

I bought the PDP concept birch a year ago and from the moment I first played this kit to this moment im blown by the sound that goes out of the kick and the snare, is realy amazing that from the realy cheap prize point you can get a profesional sound, better than a lot of the more expensive drumsets btw. I bought a 5piece black concept maple pdp drum set. . I cant be happier , it sounds just amazing even with the original drumheads... the 10ply snare is awesome and all the toms sound perfect.. im just saying thanks for making affordable and great dw quality drums!

I posted my opinion two years ago after i bought my PDP Concept Maple. Call this a follow up. If anyone is wondering out there do not hesitate buying PDP drums by DW...They seriously kick ass!! ... they are totally a class company. So you think they may be lower quality than DW cause they cost less? Think again...they are the same exactly except for the name badge simply put. I added a 8" tom by DW and it and the PDP toms are right next to each other. All sound just fantastic. Btw..They love Evans two ply heads..G2 or UV2. Each time i play them im saying to myself how much i love them. I was doing it pro for years so i know whats right and isnt. In fact id proudly put these on any stage big place, small place and whatever music you want. Maple shells are the way to go..medium warm and very nice tone but still have just right amount of punch if you need it. Final note..To the guys at the plant who select and prep the shells and all else inc the hardware..you guys rock!! Id love to take you all for free lunch for a week for giving me these great sounding drums. Couldnt happen without you guys.

Good question. Maple has a more natural sustain and warmth while Birch has more attack with less sustain. Both are great sounding woods, it just depends what you like. :)

Really depends on where you are with budget mostly. The Concept Series has all the same sizes as the Performance series with about the same amount of finish options too. With the Performance series there are more snare sizing options though.
