Pam walking across the coals is such a monumental moment for her character development. If she never walked over the coals then said what she did to Jim he never would have realised there was hope for them, or at least not for a while. It was truly the beginning of them finally getting together

The fire walk is actually a great metaphor, Dwight is stubborn (and also stupid), Michael hesitates and can’t make a decision while Pam in this moment didn’t hesitate, she just did it and then she goes and tells Jim exactly how she feels.

@@123haninhk I didn't watch the whole season 9 but i read that the cameraman who helped Pam got fired for interfering. There are a few instances i remember when they didn't do anything, like when Michael drove into the lake, the cameraman wouldn't get out if Michael didn't open the door or when Dwight was preparing to do the "Fire Drill", they could've stopped him but they didn't because they're not allowed to.

@@souju_13 This is a comedy, OF COURSE it's an exaggeration of the situation. This show is a commentary on that. My comment is a commentary on that. You can't "only doing your job" in real life. That's heartless. It's like the mockumentary vampire series 'What We Do In The Shadows' where a vampire ate one of the documentary crews and none of them doing anything. It's done for laughs. IRL a documentary crew of BTS for example would help the band members if they are in trouble. They won't keep filming, shut off the lights, and ignore them.

Coal embers conduct heat poorly but if you run through the coals you are likely to sink your foot deeper into them as well as increase the likelihood of burning the tops of your feet. The best way to do it is a slow, steady walk from start to finish

One thing I never understood about this episode, did they stay at the beach overnight? They leave when it's day, in this scene it's night, then in the final scene when they're heading back it's day again. I don't think the majority of the office would be down for an overnight beach trip.
