I’ve seen Dwight three times and each time he was stunning...however...I am glad he dumped his original guitar player, Pete Anderson. He always soloed one verse too long and tried to pull off licks he couldn’t q-u-i-t-e handle. Dwight’s current band, 3Pears, is a much more “share the music” and maximize the tune, not the solos group. And I agree - no one comes close to managing the rock-inflected Bakersfield idiom as Dwight Yoakam...a superb musician and a superb performer.

His idols were buck Owens and wynn Stewart the original bakers field sound we all have or favourite s. But comments like that are not called for.. I remember when I first discovered Dwight Yoakam. I was just starting to seriously listen to music and I heard A Thousand Miles From Nowhere on the radio. I thought damn this guy is good, I need to look him up. I did and I was hooked. It was one hit after another. Fast As You, Guitars Cadillacs, I Sang Dixie, and so many great others that I love. I have yet to hear a bad song from this man, I don't think it's possible. He is also extremely underrated my book. This guy probably sings all 25 of my top 25 favorite songs of all time lol
