George Washington had a large plantation and had many slaves and so was far above the "everyman". Today presidents whether they are the Clintons or the Bushes or the Regans or Trump are super wealthy. Most have no clue what it is like to be an ordinary citizen, nor do they care. They are influenced by big corporate people so that they can get more money and more power. To make the really popular Marvel quote, "With great power comes great responsibility". However, in many cases there is little responsibility used within our government. I cannot speak for others, I just know that we have fallen a long way from the 1980's.

If Trump won't tariff, companies will just leave America, Americans get poor, unsatisfied might lead to a civil war. While other countries gets rich. If Trump tariff, trump keeps companies from doing manufacturing abroad and selling to the US. It keeps companies within US soil more job for the Americans people. Stabilized the country. Yes it might make other countries poor. I get that. You must understand that EVERY LEADER (no exception) takes their nations interest FIRST against others this is happening Everyday in Every deal. As seen with Columbia, some threats are settled quickly, so the timeframe to react to US threats to other nations might be a short one.

Low taxes are not the reason why small businesses succeed or not, small businesses have become fewer over the last 40 years in America, while corporate taxes have decreased. I find it interesting that DW can discuss American tax policy when Germany already has high tax rates on businesses and goods. Step into any store, and you will find that goods from America are so expensive that stores place them in special areas with signs telling everyone they are American products that have both that hefty import tax and that VAT. Let's not forget the German tax office, which taxes every piece of postage that comes from overseas. If you don’t pay that import tax, you can’t receive your package. So maybe DW should do a special report on German tax policy before discussing how disruptive President Trump's policies would be to the European elites. He just got elected again and the first thing we got so see was that his voters were left outside in the cold while he went to party with his billionaer friends in the warm. If you want to have the greatest social benefits for all, where will you get the resources to pay for them? If you want to bear the huge costs of your abundant immigration policy, where will you get the resources? If you want to have the largest nation states as a percentage of GDP, where will the funds come from? If you want to have supranational state structures like the EU and the UN, where will the money come from? If you want to have armed forces equivalent to China, Russia, or the US, where will the money come from? If you want to sustain your environmentalist dream, where will you get the money from? All this is too expensive, and you simply don't have the money for it? You have no technology, no science, no industry, no markets, no leaders to carry out these projects. You are doomed to failure. You have only four viable paths: - Make Europe a huge free market of products and services! - Join the US and strengthen NATO, applying 5% of your GDP! - Reduce your national and supranational states to the bare minimum. Cut taxes as well! - Leave everything else to the free market and entrepreneurs. Be sensible!
