A lot of them had already retired and were starting to draw down small private pensions, etc. The lack of notice for the state pension age change was extremely financially damaging. Like I said, my mum calculated her loss at 55k. I'll nip any cries of ''well women wanted equality!!!" in the bud here and point out the obvious that pregnancy and child rearing cause havoc with women's bodies, as well as the the fact we have lower muscle mass and bone density than men. The state used to be sensible enough to recognise these things and rightly offer retirement to women at an earlier age.

Im actually glad my dear grandparents passed away decades ago as this breaks my heart. We looked after my nans, taking food, medicines 💊, doing household chores and taking her shopping etc. Sadly, this extended family is all but gone.
