I think I know what this song is really about, not death, but rather the message that it is better to be dead than to live alone. The chorus says "Midnight wanders on and she stored away my soul, in the morning light" the person in the song has passed away and feels like he's "Back where he belongs". As in he belongs in the grave. He also says in the second verse "My life has been right between the lines" What he us saying is that in his life he never showed his true self, just an image, which left him alone in life. Je believes he is better off dead because un the final lines of the song he says "In this cold and lonely life, sometimes goodbye feels so right". That's just take on it.

this is one of my favs but i do not interpret it as a true death... its a death of a part of ones heart if they cant be saved by love so they have no choice but to say goodbye to the "sunlight" to save the ones truelly loved! willingly to die for the family; life is a gamble and we should appreciate the good and the bad, the sweet and the sour because you cannot truelly appreciate one without the other, .... the dreams are not literlly gone just temporarily forgotten !
