Great report, touchy topic, but I would like to see Mexicans with better leadership so that they can build Mexico up. Everyone in the world cannot come to US for a better life. We need to learn how to build better infrastructure in other countries to see the economic development grow. & in honesty as a Mexican, it is your native country so after you have made your money in the U.S. it is likely for them to move back home. I say better leadership and fix and believe in your country, its beautiful.
@purplecosmos54316 жыл бұрын
Not trolling or making light of your gracefully put response, but frankly it seems a lot of people don't have a chance to build Mexico up which is why they leave...don't you agree? Often in truly poverty stricken areas (not the whole of Mexico, obviously) there isn't any room for any kind of change except leaving. I guess what I'm trying to say is that often the people who leave are not looking for something better than ordinary maybe, perhaps they're simply looking for better than very bad. They mostly have no say in infrastructure and leadership and more worry about basic human needs.
@hannahst.clairetv22026 жыл бұрын
purple cosmos I agree with needing basic human needs, but I am simply saying all Mexicans will not be able to move to the U.S. There aren't enough jobs and it could cause over population. I strongly believe in building infrastructure in third world countries as well as countries lacking resources. It's not instant gratification but over time, can be a success.
@purplecosmos54316 жыл бұрын
That's true. Obviously a much longer term solution is needed. But Mexico is an upper middle-income country with the highest income per capita in the region and is the fifteenth largest economy in the world. It's not as though all Mexicans want to come to the United States. Corruption and income inequality are the big issues affecting the government so I agree with your saying leadership needs to change.

Most of these men are in gangs, due to the poor economic conditions of the country, and those men - some who maybe cold blooded killers will not want to wage war against the citizens themselves. Unlike back in the 70's and 80's, I'm sure the cartels have a lot of US politicians in there back pockets. If they could pressure the US to legalize drugs, then this would set them up as major players in the market, as long as Uncle Sam cuts them a fair deal, but it will be pressure from the citizens that the cartels have to worry about. Again a government needs people, not the other way around. Even the cartels foot soldiers are not going to kill friends and family members who are not associated with the cartel. The cartel can't screw over the foot soldiers are risk being in the same debacle as the current government. In the end any of the above options call for great social upheaval of its citizens from all parts of Mexico. The options 1 and 3 relay on underlying financial support to make it a success, and all the above options require sympathetic propaganda, in order to make the world care and especially the cartels, who will have to be dealt with at some point. I say drug legalization and giving them a seat at the table is a step in the right direction.

The 1900+ mile behemoth wall will never work and probably doesn't actually get completed. How many more trillions of dollars of debt risking national security will it cost to build and man? Why not do what all other countries do? Have strict enforced immigration law requiring visas that also include stiff penalties for illegal businesses and heavy fines for employing illegal aliens under the table. For example, if I go to Thailand or Europe to over stay a visa, I'd get arrested, detained, fined, and then deported requiring an expensive unplanned last minute flight. I also wouldn't be allowed to do a business or buy into a house without a local host national partner with law preventing foreigners from owning no more than 49% share as to protect locals economic interests. However, if I went to central or South America, a work visa to teach English or work in tourism is too complicated and expensive in most cases, that I'd have to exit and re-enter on tourist visas every 3 months. The America's are in disarray because that's how the establishment that controls the US wants it. If it weren't for that, there wouldn't be so many trying to sneak in just to clean toilets for they'd have a viable way of life in their home countries.
@SoloTravelerOffTheBeatenPath6 жыл бұрын
Scott Bixler It won’t cost trillions at all you idiot. The wall is expected cost $18 billion to build. That is peanuts for our government. At the height of the Iraq war we were spending $10 BILLION A WEEK. We could come up with the money for the wall tomorrow if we wanted to, but the Democrats are obstructionists. Pure and simple. Walls do work for keeping people out, just ask Israel.
@Worldofourown20246 жыл бұрын
That wall in Jerusalem is much smaller area to control and was completed years ago so it's in place and operational. A 1900 mile fortified and manned wall won't go up even by 2020 for it will take years to accomplish assuming America doesn't go broke or default on national debt anytime soon. Yes, there is currently the money and manpower with close to $700 billion allocated for Pentagon this coming fiscal year, but wars are always more important though domestic military operations is most certainly becoming a booming business as well which Trump supporters want for national security vs. nonstop deployments to the other side of the world no one knows or cares about. The great wall of China required many years to be planned, built, and militarily staffed so this won't happen overnight. America should have planned a long time ago on how to go about having the most diverse nation on Earth with a focus on harmony to preserve democracy instead of allowing the republic to fall into a gridlock of disarray from big money politics causing so many conflicts of interest.

What about our own precious young men and women, who have given their all, their life's blood, for our freedom and the rule of law that controls the infiltration of outside forces that would destroy us from within. Since, I live in Texas I have to make this statement directly to those that are conducting a build the wall campaign.This migrant stream was created and sustained by American business special interest. To this day, it is Hispanic labor that you see most visible in the trades, hospitality and general workforce. I asked this to those that hold what I would consider a hateful point of view. I asked this question specifically to the Texas state politicians, “where have you been during the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, to present-day 2019, Hispanic labor has worked hard to build up the state of Texas and they been doing it out in the open, so why the hypocrisy now?” Just in case there are readers from other states, immigration has been occurring for such a long time and has been developed by American business interest I will add just a few states and their estimated migrant community: California (2,350,000), Texas (1,650,000), Florida (850,000), New York (775,000), New Jersey (500,000), Illinois (450,000), Georgia (375,000), North Carolina (350,000), Arizona (325,000), Virginia (300,000), Maryland (250,000). In doing a brief survey of wages of Central America which includes Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. While we have the build the wall movement becoming vocal I have not seen anyone from this political point of view addressing the why they are coming. When offered a suggestion that we speed up the registration process at the border the reaction is to discourage the process suggested. But more importantly no one addresses the Central American wage scheme. I will try to keep the wage descriptions consistent over this discussion and convert the wages to dollars: • In Costa Rica I found that for a general employee the wage is about $11.15 a day, • In the Dominican Republic wages are reported on a monthly basis which range from general employees $134 up to $221, • In El Salvador the agricultural workers get paid $2 a day, • In Guatemala you see wages from $2.81 to $3.73 a day. I will restate that the wall is immoral because in my view this nation is parasitic in nature extracting raw material and knowingly allowing the wages of the general workforce to be depressed. And I have stated in the past that the more intrepid Central Americans are heroes and they will walk thousands of miles to better themselves economically. All the while, the United States punishes people with spirit, by conducting a “build a wall” campaign. Thank you for reading.

Two million workers do it here in Cali. They've taken over jobs like construction that used to pay better until so many illegal aliens began working them. They're especially popular with roofers, because they'll work for less and take the money under the table, so the contractor doesn't have to buy the worker's comp insurance. I've also seen people go out of business because they refused to break our laws to hire illegals, but then they can't underbid the companies that do.

In the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, Mexicans were promised many things such as the continued ownership of their land, free access to and fro the border, etc.. Perhaps doing what is morally right should be upheld. Has anyone ever heard of the so called Mexican American War where over the U, A. attained by by force, over 1/4 of its land mass and Mexico lost a third of its own? Does anyone care to know the truth?

America just TAKES what it wants! In 1812 we tried to just take Canada, and the British burned down Washington! We were a caring and Loving nation, but that has all changed! Some explorer sticks a flag in the ground as declares this land belongs to XXX?

To my understanding it was Mexico who started the war. So it's hypocritical to blame US for this. Also, by now, it's clear the US has made a better country for people to live in - judging by the amount of people flocking to US from Mexico.

I think its different from the ones coming here to better their self and the ones that's bringing drugs in. I do think the ones that's coming here to better their lives should stay but the one's that's bring drugs in should go back. I found that man who's helping his people across very brave and i have much respect for him.

My nieces bf is Mexican, came here with his mom as a young child, went to school here, worked and paid in taxes but never claimed a refund because he never got legal after he was 18. Missed an immigration hearing several years ago,so a deportation order was issued, then almost a year ago he was on his way home from work, didn't stop all the way at a stop sign in a small town, and the local Barney Fife was sitting there waiting to get someone. He was arrested, sent to jail in that county, moved to another county on an old traffic stop, my niece had just paid his bond and was waiting for him to come out, kept waiting and finally found out he had been picked up by ICE and taken to a holding facility. He spent about a week there, ended up being deported and can't apply for legal re-entry for another nine years. Meanwhile his four year old son is growing up without his dad, the only contact he has is through video chats. He stands in front of a picture collage and looks at the pictures of him and his dad. Everytime he gets in trouble or doesn't get his way he screams for his dad. I babysit for him and his sister from someone else and I try to explain that daddy had to go far away and can't come back right now, but doesn't understand.
