As an ethnic Eritrean, born a first-generation American, this utterly broke my heart. Upon recent realization that my parents glorified and candy-coated my heritage and background, I’ve been unable to sleep. This video was very informative, and eye-awakening. Thank you guys for the work you do. Ignorance may be bliss, but knowledge is powerful.

@@bassjohn3452 For every problem, there's a solution, and so, for every problem there is a root cause which can be remedied. Some African countries haven't recovered from the effects of colonialism. Without effective and free and fair governance, what can the poor do? What I always wonder is...How are the reporters and the whole small organization of Unreported World not prosecuted for getting this info? I know they are able to talk to this people in the deep through a lot of work and networking, but still... it's just so much risk! I love what they do though, so much insight and honesty. Journalists are protected by international humanitarian law. However, violence against journalists and the media is still considered a serious problem, so all of the people who report in dangerous places recognize they are putting their lives at risk, and obviously do their best to remain safe and not put themselves in the most perilous situations. Generally speaking, they're seen as neutral.

I live in Israel and work in south Tel Aviv (the low socioeconomic, high drug and crime rate area) where there is a huge foreign population: asylum seekers ,migrant workers and refugees. I work at a non profit organisation that provides daycare for children from the foreign community and our organisation provides social welfare services for the families of the children. Most of the Eritreans that came to Israel, came around ten years ago and have since started families here or have gained some sort of weak financial stability. They mainly work at minimum wage jobs: restaurant workers, cleaners, care takers...... While the State of Israel provides services to help them (although not as much as they need because of funding issues), they still face many challenges and obstacles integrating into Israeli society. The children that are born here grow up speaking Hebrew as their mother tongue, singing Israeli songs, celebrating Israeli and Jewish holidays in school and attend Israeli public schools but don't have any form of Israeli citizenship. The migrant crisis is still very relevant today

Are you forgetting that the reason the Jewish people are all over the world is because they were looking for better place to live and safety. Don't be quick to blame others. @claude kadima , you are the one who should read history, jews were taken by the romans as slaves after the jewish rebelion in 132 CE.Also there are documents about the sumerian occupation of the land of the jews- where the sumerian king decided to take a large portion of the jewish population and ressetle it in Mesopotamia. So no- they were not looking for a safer place, but were forced out by foreign powers.

@@העבד I'm glad that you said that foreign powers forced Jews out of their country. Is it not foreign powers who are behind wars in countries like Iraq, Somalia, Libya, DRC, etc.....? Is it not foreign powers who impose uncalled economic sanctions on weaker countries because they don't agree with them? Based in what I said above, you will see that people move away from their countries not because they choose to do so but because some foreign powers are also to blame for the instability in those countries.

They are not going to those non-Western countries because they know they will not receive generous social welfare, such as housing, healthcare, and education. Sweden, the US and the UK are examples of migrants fleeing the Middle East, Africa, and Central/South America for Western countries that offer these generous benefits. Meanwhile, income-tax paying citizens have to take on the burden of paying more taxes for these refugees and illegal migrants. For example, California just allowed 92 million dollars of tax money to go towards free healthcare for illegal immigrants.
