Remembering this video today on the day I'm able to pick up the HD-2D remake of this amazing lost gem of the SNES's era. It's because of this video that I played the original SNES release and it's because of this video that I marked out so hard when they revealed the remake five months ago. After so long, it's finally here. I can't help but cry, because the thought's bringing tears to my eyes. Dazz, and everyone at DYKG, thank you for your video on this game. I'd like to think you were the reason the remake happened; you shined a light on a game from Square that truly, truly deserved the love put into it.

This game has one of my favorite antagonists of all time. It goes into far greater depth as to his origins and what drove him to evil, because you unknowingly play as him for a time and see the tragic events and betrayal unfold from his perspective. It's rare to find a villain you can empathize with, and as a whole, I found the cast of characters more compelling than in most other Square games.

@rmdcade17176 жыл бұрын
Luckily, each Japanese hiragana or katakana character has only a single pronunciation, and they follow a very straightforward repetition of five vowel sounds. Once you know how the vowels sound, you can pronounce every phoneme pretty acceptably. It's not a big deal, obviously, but a quick video (at only four minutes, this one still manages to be overkill: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIGteqqcm5iqZqs) and a quick google for "kana chart" will allow Dazz to butcher Japanese just as well as he does English with his adorable accent. :P
@Rationalific6 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I wrote this under one other comment, but I will say it again here... Even if he can't read it himself, he could have asked one of his 2.1 million subscribers before he put out a video saying this... In fact, even if he knew no katakana and had nobody to ask, a simple comparison shows that the first word ライブ is equal to the last word ライブ. That, by itself, should tell him that the first and last words are pronounced the same way.

Actually the title foreshadows what happens afterwards as "live" is "evil" spelled backwards. So title is actually "Live-A-Evil" . CORRECTION: I was wrong on this. The katakana below the title say raibu a raibu, so the title really is Live-A-Live. Still, the fact that the "Live" is inversed on the title is *NO* coincidence. Great game, and the eighth chapter's twist made my jaw drop the first time I saw it. Also, the developers did their research. The Sundown Kid chapter's ending is based on actual historical accounts. It's a shame that Japanese copyright laws will never allow this game to be played legally here. Oh, well, there's always emulation.

I always pronounced the game as LIVE A LIFE. To me that makes the most sense, each chapter you are playing the life of a different character, and like wise the title mirroring LIVE to say EVIL, is foreshadowing the fact that you are not only experiencing the different lives of characters facing a great evil, but one character in particular is very much the source of that evil to begin with, so you are living their life as well as their evil.

Given that this game was released in the 16-bit era, I don't think Nintendo of America would have permitted a release in North America without some alterations to the story (namely, the onscreen suicide). How the hell did they fit all of that in an SNES cartridge
@azinyefantasy44456 жыл бұрын
Beamo1080 games were made short to cash out. If you played fire emblem, breath of Fire, tenchi muyo or sailor moon r, those games were ridiculously long. I even imported treasure hunter g. Talk about grind heavy.

The katakana at the bottom of the screen says “ra-i-bu a ra-i-bu” so whether you lih-ve or lie-ve it’s the same both times.

With the "Present Day" chapter taking place in the 90s, and "Sci-Fi" taking place slightly after 2100, The Near Future chapter is now the new Present Day chapter.

Seems like a proto Chrono Trigger, the designer must've brought in alot from this into Chrono. Sure, some of it to FF4:AY but I mean the style and all the time frames.. Just screams Chrono Trigger. Seems like a cool game!

This game is art and more people should play it. Also you probably seen that creepy bad endings video about this game.
