In serie you get 7.2+6.9 = 14.1kOhm In parallell you get 1/(1/7.2+1/6.9) = 3.5kOhm

@fredchatham66804 жыл бұрын
Correct parallel impedance IS 3.5k
@Lost-xl6im4 жыл бұрын

Awesome video as always! Also, both can be wired so they are hum cancelling Now, don’t hate me but small correction: 6.9 with 7.2 in parallel is equivalent to a 3.52k resistance

@@Lost-xl6im diego: "equivalent to a 3.52k resistance" you: "no dumbass... that is the coil resistance" the guy in the video was clearly trying to explain how to calculate parallel resistance and using it as a proxy for voltage/output so the multiple comments about his mistake are reasonable and correct. perhaps you should work on language comprehension before calling multiple literate people "dumbass". congrats on knowing that resistance and impedance are different though, now everyone knows how smart you are

@stevesalazar9658 Жыл бұрын
I'd personally get annoyed with the series being in the end position over one of the in-betweens. So use to quickly flipping to the neck being all the way forward to that sound that I would be accidently going to series when I want just neck out of habit & the fact all my other teles are still standard. Much better if this option was on a push-pull, push-push, or on one of the in-between switch settings. At least for someone like me use to playing on tradition teles for decades

You can wire the 4 way switch to have it be parallel and series on the middle positions. Just a slight change in the way you set up the switch.

@canadiandream12 Жыл бұрын
I’ve been wanting to do add a volume knob so each pickup has an independent one, plus the master tone knob. I’m just trying to wrap my head around how to wire it with the 4 way switch mod.
@spl10113 жыл бұрын
yikes... the parallel resistance math is way off. It will end up being between half of what the highest and lowest resistances in series are. So if you have 7k in parallel with 6.5k, it is just shy of 3.4k. 3.4k is between half of 7k and 6.5k. The math you explained is not how its calculated and is not what resistance is seen by the source.

Good Demonstration. I have the 4 way switch modification on all my single coil Teles. It is a great way to get the most flexibility out of the guitar. At the factory level, it could not cost over $1.00 to include it as a standard feature. Fender/Squier should just make them all 4 way.

Yeah it should just be standard on all teles unless it’s a strict vintage re issue or vintage inspired tele.

Just did this mod using a 920D prewired switch plate and Fender Nocaster pickups. All positions are hot except for the bridge is dead in position 4, neck PU works fine?? @joshuahek45642 жыл бұрын
Can it be wired so that the 4th position is in one of the middle 2 spots so that the bridge is on the far end, and the neck is on the other end? Basically both settings with both pickups would be in the middle. I feel like it would be easier for me to navigate, I'm a little heavy handed with the switch because I usually just use the neck or bridge pickups by them selves.

Short version: no, not with the the usual four way switch people use.

@charlescowart5423 I have it with a dual humbucker strat. Cheap 4-way from Amazon. Bridge, Parallel, Series, Neck. Also have a couple of toggle switches for coil split. Works fine. For Tele pickups, you have to do the 3-wire mod to the neck pickup so the shield doesn't cause a problem.

I was just thinking this morning that I need something to give my guitar some extra boost.. Still has lame pickups in it but if I hit a pinch harmonic( especially in the neck position, of course), it doesn't really pick it up hardly.. Even the bridge isn't that responsive.. Maybe with this mod I can get a little more out of it.. I picked up an old tube tester at the thrift shop that I am sure doesn't work and it's missing leads and a cord.. But it has these oldschool analog 4 position switches that feel like something from a Cadalac but nicer .. I haven't taken it apart yet to look,but I suspect I might not be able to use them if it's one bar they are all fixed to inside but maybe if I am lucky .. Not sure if it would even be something I could use in a guitar but anyways.. It's here for some kinda project ..lol.... I degress.. I might have to go take a look in it in a minute and see if this is a project I can do today.. I do have other old stereos that I might be able to rob something from.. I have a cheap practice relic that I don't mind trying it on first.
