It sounded like you didn’t have Cab Simulation engaged on the Direct Signal.

Either that or the direct signal simply needs a low pass filter at 5-8khz

Sound pretty as the same i was back then tryin to record overdrive\disto pedals straight to an audio interface ! 👂💩

Sounds like that to me also.

I completely agree 100% with everything you just said! I too enjoy the air movement a standard speaker cabinet allows. You also couldn't be more correct; if we are not standing in the same room as you, we can not possibly hear or feel what you are feeling or hearing!

Great video, and I agree on the matter of "moving air". It makes a big difference. Ever since I went digital (with an FRFR monitor) I miss the dynamics from a traditional guitar cabinet. Especially when playing with the band. So now, I´m considering buying a poweramp and cabinet for my Ax8.

Oddly enough, I find this video to be the LEAST pointless video I've found so far concerning recording digital amps because the whole purpose of recording an amp with a speaker vs using a digital amp direct IS the whole crux of the matter, especially when it comes to comparing a recorded tube amp vs digital amps, the microphone being the key in between. That's what is missing to realize the big picture ! Who else has done a video like this? Not many, at all. Well done man. I think this demo is utterly brilliant, rather than pointless.. As a matter of fact, every video I watched today was pointless except for this one. You hit the nail right on the head.

Just to clarify.. A lot of people seem to be confusing cabinet simulation with speaker simulation within a digital amp, meaning, speaker simulation is basically an impulse response (IR) of a speaker with a mic in front of it, which deals with speakers, not cabs. So the difference between recording a digital amp direct vs micing it would be mostly is THE WOOD of cabinet, which is what give it the tone, not the simulation ! That's the whole point. So basically, turning on digital cabinet simulation and recording it is a bit of an oxymoron because you're recording simulated wood through REAL wood. The only difference would then be using a tube amp vs digital amp through a cabinet because that's the whole point of digital simulation ! The "cab" is just the sound of wood and the IR is speaker and mic.
@stevegardiner84736 жыл бұрын
You're right about it being pointless seeing as there's no cab sim on the direct out.
@ShadovvV3 жыл бұрын
Wrong. The difference between recording a digital amp direct vs micing is THE WOOD of cabinet, which is what gives it the tone, not the simulation ! That's the whole point. So basically, what you said is to use simulated wood through mic'd wood, which isn't quite logical. If I'm incorrect, then the only difference would be using a tube amp vs digital amp through a cabinet because that's the whole point of digital simulation ! The "cab" is just the sound of wood. The speaker with a mic in front of it becomes a secondary factor, UNLESS you're referring to IR simulation, which deals with speakers, not cabs.

Direct out like that with Kemper cab Off sounds terrible. I never use direct out, I use only for reamp purpose. I use speaker out(Master mono) with Kemper cab Off to my Speaker cab, and main out(Master mono) from Kemper with cab on to the mixhouse with independent eq control for both outputs, and It sounds amazing. I guarantee you It sounds Fantastic ! But I understand your point ! Cheers !

What cab profile were you using when you went direct?

I can 100% guarantee you that this sounds better than that, every single time, on any test that you will ever do, this, will always sound better than that. 100% guarantee you.

The direct out sounded bad period. Even if you had not played the other cab. Too digital. The over driven sound from the cab was good but not so much the clean on either one.

Well the reason people wanted to hear it is for them selfs to compare for their own wonderment. That's why I saw this video. I want to hear what a kemper sounds like through an amp just so I know what it sounds like. What you decide to present to us is irrelevant. We just wanna hear your rig. That's the point lol. No hate or malice towards you. I just think you misunderstood the reasoning behind the request.

Also thank you for the demo and video. Hearing it through the app sounds fantastic

Dylan should invest more time into ‘tone’ never mind talking about it. You can start by hitting that cab sim to on! No offence dude but why do a KZbin video about the kemper when you’re not using it properly...
@DylanTalksTone6 жыл бұрын
Jon Smith can aim is on when it’s direct... of when it’s through the cab.... since you don’t then “sim a cab”

I really hate the internet and youtube for having guys like him telling others how to do something..... obviously he has no clue what he is doing... Speaker sounds like crap, no cab sim on the direct signal... go back to the guys who know what they're doing and learn from scratch.... this makes me angry with his 300+ videos....
@DylanTalksTone4 жыл бұрын
600 plus videos actually. Yeah, I learned a lot with that Kemper. Also, you are incorrect about what was wrong in this video.
